    Stinger setup

Need some questions answered about setting up a stinger strut for a 33 inch titan mono with 3/16 shaft and cable. Is the brass tube and the teflon tube supposed to stop at the end of the transom, or does the teflon tube go into the stinger strut, and if it goes into the stinger, do i have to use 3 different sizes of brass to get it down to the size of the brass tube for 3/16 teflon. the opening in the back of the stinger is about the size of a brass tube for .250 teflon. this is a HOR Racing stinger strut.

I am using 1/4 brass (without Teflon) and it slots straight into my strut, I am also building a Titan but with a flooded tube and strut.

are you using a stinger ? if u run the brass tube all the way into the stinger strut, there is no flexability. how do get the positive and negtive angles needed for the prop ?

He said he was using a strut. You really don't have to bury the tube into the stinger, and most come with a rubber seal. This WILL allow the 2, or maybe 3 degrees of angle adjustment.
IMHO, prop depth is of a greater concern, hence the flood tube/wet well.

Looks good, but completely irrelevent to the OP's question.........He's asking about a stinger.

Take the brass stuffing tube out past the transom around 10-12mm so that it is inside the stinger. All of the HOR stingers ive used & seen have a problem that's been discussed many times on this forum re water entering the boat via the stuffing tube. The problem is when the stinger is fixed to the transom theirs a large gap between the hull & the front of the barrel part of the stinger, this acts as a forward facing water scoop pushing water up the stuffing tube into the boat. Common cure is to seal this area, you can use a piece of 6mm bore silicon exhaust tube cut a bit longer than the gap & it then gets squashed between the stinger barrel & the hull. This gives 100% seal, some just seal around this area with silicon but either way works fine. All of the HOR stingers ive had do not come with rubber seals but I believe the Speedmaster stingers of a similar design do use rubber seals.

appreciate the answer martin. now ive got a good idea as what to do. if i seal it at the end i should have a chamber that will hold the grease to keep the 3 inch hardened shaft lubricated. thanks again

With the stuffing tube coming out past the transom this also gives something to hold the piece of rubber tube in place as well as being sandwiched between the hull & stinger barrel.
