Great thread & some good discussion. I like the water injection idea; and I have been a fan of out runners for their ability to turn large props at a slower rpm, but I have also seen oil injected motors @ plants i've worked in too. I think the h2o injection idea should only be used on external motor applications like flat bottoms or tunnels.

I looked at purchasing a h2 hobbies sober the other day for $350. It was a full HK setup other than the x447 props though. Twin turnigy out runners, 120A birdy esc's with 180A cooling plates with led voltage readouts on two 5s lipo power. The deal didn't work out, but it gave me some interesting ideas :-) .

For out runners I also add a little thermal paste between the mount & the motor base plate. This increases heat transfer a fair bit.
See the danger. THEN DO IT ANYWAY!!!

Added weight is a good thing in most boats,
The Daytona that I have runs a lot better with the added weight from big cells with better speeds and handling to.
That water cooled motor mount weight will be really nothing to worry about,
With the outrunner the front bell will be cooler if mounted to a water cooled motor mount,
And act like a radiator with the air flow from the motor casing fan to help move the heat.

Hears some info on outrunners and temps in post #7 in this thread.
