oh also this esc doesn't have an on/off switch, so is it just on when batt is hooked up or what?

As far as I know the Mystery 80a does not have a BEC. Which means that you have to connect separate power supply (4x AA bats 1.2V or else 5-6V) to the receiver in the bat slot. Then connect the ESC to the ch.2 slot.

I think it takes a Pistix adaptor as well.

on the esc itself it says that is does have a bec so i won't need to add a rx pack. but i am not sure how to arm it what do i need to do? if it helps this is one of the yellow mystery esc's not the clear shrink wrapped ones.

that do not have bec. and you need a Pistix depending on your radio. i have a few of those yellow ones and they work great with my futaba 3-pm but wont work at all my with hitec agressor (with or without a Pistix). if you dont have the manual give me a pm and il se if i cant scan a copy for you. i have not found the manual online before but got one with a mystery 100 amp.
