    Flooded tube question?

I am just building a Mono with a flooded stuffing tube, how much adjustment is recommended?

I have some carbon tube which is 10mm ID and using 1/4 brass so this only gives me 4mm of adjustment, I aim to try and get it set spot on but will 2mm either way be enough?

I think I know the answer but seems a wasters not use what I've got!

FWIW my 29" mono has about 4mm up and down after I re-did it, I've never moved it down, only up as the prop sizes have increased, only gone up about 2mm running a 46.5mm prop. Started out with a different motor and 42mm prop.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

Not sure how much there would be to gain with only 4mm of travel. I used a 1/2" piece of copper pipe, crimped on one end to make it oval/elongated and got nearly 11mm of adjustment.
Would you work all day on your cars engine to install a part that would only get you 1,or 2 horsepower? That's a waster mate.
      Get a larger flood tube.

Think this is going to be a better size and maybe I can still step down to the 12mm OD tube

I'm putting this configuration in my "great idea" file. Thanks

Was hoping you'd chime in Doug. Didn't you use a large CF tube on your big Sniper?

                  Hi Todd,
You may be thinking about Tyler, Peter Z., or ?? I've done it that way in every mono I've built with a irrigated shaft alley. I just like that set up.

Agree that's a great idea if I had stringers I would definitely do that!

                      [QUOTE=Doug Smock;546953]Hi Todd,

Gosh I thought is was you. Kevin used a cf tube on a Sniper build,--- http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...2&d=1356814353
IIRC the one I am thinking of in a Sniper was painted yellow, the cf tube was huge, and only 6" or 8" away from the transom. It was that one that inspired me
to build my Titan 33 with a flood chamber. With motor, prop, and water surface changes it's great to be able to make these changes to a *larger* mono hull.
To the OP, what hull are we talking about here?

Thank you sir, and you're welcome.[/QUOTE

                        Same hull Titan 40 (33")

Going to order some larger tube tonight
