The question is : What have I learned about Aeronmarine hulls ?

Maiden run.. and it was a gentle quick first 2 short laps ..
The datalog shows just 42.5 seconds of onwater time before it split the seams.

    Castle 2028/750Kv

    SF300plus

datalog suggests max throttle of 52%

Depending on the age of the hull, there was a time a few years ago when Aeromarine had a real issue with the adhesive they used for joining the hull halves. Splits like this were very common even with little force applied. Several club members had the same problems. This has apparently been fixed, I crashed my Sport 40 hydro into the bank at 89 mph and the damage was much less than expected. The hull was totaled, but most seams held fine. I suspect your hull is a few years old. Regardless, it is a shame and I do sympathize with you; that's a lot of work wasted....

Every aeromarine hull I had split at the seams unless this process is done. I pour epoxy along the seam now and let dry. Next I run a layer of 2 inch fg or cf tape down them. If you do this the problem is solved

You should get a job at AM as seam tape sealer !

How long was it on the shelf at the dealer's?

Aeromarine's Remy or staff are currently incommunicado ( of course ) !
The ONLY way to reliably communicate with Remy is by phone, period. I have never had an e-mail response from him, ever. You may have to try a few times on the phone to get him - not very convenient for an Aussie!

I'm not being an apologist for AM, just explaining my understanding of the issue. All the AM hulls I've had (7) held up fine even after major crashes. The last AM Sport 40 blew over at a SAW event at 85 mph with zero damage; only after running into the bank did it break open a bit. The seams held except as shown in the photo below. This hull was actually built in February of 2013.

For a year or two AM used a poor adhesive to join the hull halves and split seams were very common. Before and after that time, split seams were relatively rare. I occasionally race with a large group of gas guys who run far more AM hulls than any FE group, and this was their take as well. I do not blame you for being unhappy, it doesn't matter if any other hulls are good, only if yours (or mine) is!

Remy will also tape the seam for you upon request. I get my hulls with an extra layer of glass on top and bottom and seams taped

I run a very thin layer of A&B expandable foam down the seam. Mix it in a very small cup and pour it gently down the seam. Very thin. That stuff is damn sticky. It creates a very strong bond about 3/4" around. Have to keep it moving down the seem or you will have a mess. Did this to my AC R42 Cat that split on me too.

Good luck doing that where this hydro split.

Perhaps the "Offshore Electrics Sticker" on the left sponson helped keep that side together.....should have put one on the right side as well

Seriously though, that sucks big time..I thought AM hulls were supposed to be one of the better products on the market. I'll have to look at re-enforcing my Titan P-Mono seams now.

Sorry Doc for what happened, that "crash" on the vid didn't seem all the dramatic for the amount of damage it caused.

Hey Wayne is that you in the Wheelchair or did you build the hydro for the lad? If so, I'd go with an RGK since that one looks like a Quickie brand like my first chair... I broke that frame in half, POS wheelchair and design.

I have to wonder how you could even get a properly sealed joint at the sponsor tip given the hulls shape.
I will be watching to see how this is handled before buying one of there hulls. Even if they stand behind there product and get you a new hull all those build hours are a loss. Sucks big time! I guess you'll have to ask them to tape the seams properly like the other guy has them do. I see some companies use a glue rather than a wet on wet join. I took it out of the hulls I bought and fiberglassed the seams, is that goop any good?

I Cfd a 1/4 ply plate between floor and nose where I planned to install a dowel and socket to hold the cowl down..that Cf reinforced wedge between upper and lower decks is all that stopped the whole front end from separating .. the L sponson has also split but not yet folded back.
I guess the OSE sticker added some support
