Finally, in mine the propeller broke apart and I placed another one. The point is that the prop. shaft is 4mm therefore you will need a sleeve of 3/16 tube to fit a 3/16 prop. I used the CF 42 mm running on 3s.
Hi. Do you know what size shaft this boat has? Is it .130 or .150 flex shaft? The feigao 9xl uses 5mm coupler. So, i need to get a new coupler because i don't think the old coupler in the boat will work.

          Hi,

The flexshaft is exactly 4mm which is 0.157 inch. You can ask OSE (Steve) to give you a coupler 5mm to 4mm or if the 5-0.150 will be ok for the 4mm flex.

I use a .130 (3/16') and it seems to work fine, The only time I tangled one up was when I had to great of a distance form the stuffing tube to the coupler about
1 1/2" now I am at less than 1/4" and have had no problems.

the step up from the smaller 380 motor to the 540 xl is a really big step in power. the 9 -10 xl can swing a nice sized prop. On 12 cells(recomended min) these motors can and have snapped/twisted .130 cables. Seeing they are the same price is it worth the chance of sending your prop to the bottem of the pond, and then possibly overrev your motor seize that up and fry ur esc. By the way once a cable snaps its just a second or 2 before all this happens long before you figure it out. Get the 5mm flex to .150 cable flex hex and do it right the 1st time and save yourself the grief. Just my opinion.. Ive built several boats from scratch and have learned the hardway.... Dont cheat yourself or your boat not worth it at this point. If you need to change stuffing tubes do it. Dave

I agree with Dave, Do it once and do it right.

.150 minimum for a XL - I recommend a 9 or 10XL Start with a X442 like Graham has said, and then move to a M445 for some real high speed

I have a similar length cat that does 47mph on a 8xl and 4s lipos and theres a lot more in it yet

I use two of these lipos in parallel to make 4s2p

                dont have to spend megabucks

I have two cats in that size range (scratch built) 1 runs a single 8xl the other runs twin 9xl. Both are real nice performers and nothing runs hot or snaps.

I also have a 26 in cat that was set up with a .130 cable running a 700 brushed, which I plan to upgrade to .150 cable, do i need to maybe not, but I do all my own propwork and i dont want my prop at the bottom of the pond...
Getting good advice and setting the boat up right from the start will end in a nice running boat without problems that will provide many hours of enjoyment.
Trying to cut corners ends in buying the parts you should have from the start.
Beleive me spend the extra and be happy verses going 2nd rate and burning up expensive parts , and possibly burning the whole boat... he smell is hard to get out of a hull lol

There are plenty of experienced boaters here that are willing to give the good advice,,,,, Hard part is listening and doing what they recomend.
The frustration of trying to set up a boat has caused many to quit, I almost did, Then I asked alot of questions learned alot, now its alot more fun and far less frustrating.....
Feel free to pm me anytime for advice. Here is a link to my cat builds

Next will be getting the hardware set up. If you can post a pic of the rear of your hull from the side showing your strut we can offer a good set up.
Alil off this way or that and you will not see the performance you desire and possibly burn up a motor or esc.. I will gladly offer a bigging set up that has worked well for most. There are a few here who have the same hull as you and can offer more specific advice to get you up and going and save ya some time and possibly money. If I came off a bit strong I am sorry wasnt my intyent to sound like an a** but i was defnately trying to get my point across.
My most frustrating part was thinking i had a handle on it not knowing ?I was way off base, I burned up a few motors and an esc on my 1st boat. i learned alot , the most important thing i learned was read ask alot of ??? read more, and follow the advice of the ppl have who have already been there done that.
Again Sorry if i sounded a bit out of line. I offer all the knowledge i have to you. And If i dont know I can find out... Dave

That is cool I understand sometimes i use the direct approach as well, I was not recommending what I am running, just stating what I am running, I use 6s lipos on an 11XL feiago with an X438 prop and it is a lot for now (me) I am thinking of either going with 2-4s packs in parallel or changing motors to get down to around 1200 kva and run a larger prop.

Just an advise to Tony, because I have exactly the same boat, a 45 mm propeller will not fit. Maximum prop. that can fit in this boat is a 42mm.

There is obstruction with the rudder support. The rudder is in the centreline and extends behind the prop. The rudder support is located above the propeller.

Can someone post a pic of the rudder strut area. I would love to have a look at that area in close up, well close enough to see the detail. I may be able to give some advice or a work around.... Dave

Hi, I used the Octura X642 prop, and it fits fine. It is the same size as the prop that came with the boat. Maybe its a 42 mm ?

The 642 is the same diameter as the 442 just more pitch. just a note seeing i havent seen a pic of the hardware set up yet. you can take a round file and cut a small notch into the rudder provideing there is room for it wothout cutting thru.
Getting a 445 to fit shouldnt be to hard providing you pretest the prop for fit and allow a bit of room for "vibration", or difference in blade length. Just a note a balanced prop doent mean both blades are the same length, unless the person doing the prop made sure they were the same length. And no not all are the same length...
