IIRC it was a Lehner 2080 on 32 NiMH cells in T Hydro class - 140 mph. Approximately 6000 watts. Today racers are using over 9000 watts and still can't equal Joerg's record.

There is a difference between what the motor is rated for and what really gets pushed through it.

My 118+mph 4 cell boat is running ~4000 watts through a motor rated for 2500 watts.

I pitted next to Tyler when he ran 134 plus mph, believe me he was pulling WAY WAY over 4500 watts. It isn't just power that nets high speeds. Boat design and rigging make a big difference. You can see this almost every race day when limited-class racers gather for an oval race. Even with identical power some boats are markedly faster than others. This says a lot about the skill and knowledge of the JAGs team which set the top speed record years ago.

I just went and looked at the data logs for my P hydro in November. My peak was 5200 watts on the 119mph pass. Motor was an HET 700-68-4200.

I believe the current record by Joerg is held with a 2250/8 according to the now defunct NAMBA website (It's being updated at the moment) on 32 cells. Pretty sure Chris Harris is running a 1527 on 8S and he damn near matched Joerg's record.

I have also run the gambit of motors from 1515's through 1527's on the Neu side and 1950's through 2280's on the Lehner side. Output power has ranged from 4kW to over 12kW, but I will also confirm that power is not everything. I ran 130mph with a 1950 on 6 cells pushing 5700W with the right prop. I have also run 128mph with the 1527 on 8 cells pushing 10.8kW. I have run a lot slower with a lot more power. Trust me when I say 80% is the hull design, component matching and prop. Crazy SAW obsessed teammates help too.

I do have some of the details, but I am not sure he wants it posted. I would rather let Ralf say what he used.

That power system would be tough to package in a hydro and likely needs 2P for the current capacity. I had a DF sniper 45 with a 3080 Lehner and Schulze 40.303WK. This motor was capable of pulling 600A easily and pushed the controller too hard.
