Aeromarine Laminates hulls

I've read a number of posts concerning Aeromarine Laminates Titan and Mean Machine hulls but haven't found any on the Scorpion series, 32"/.21 or any on the Sprint Cat series 29" hull. Is there any reason why these two hulls are not being used? Seems to me would be great with 4S pack.

Rumdog and a few others have done 29" Sprintcat hulls. At least I think it was rummy. Anyways, it's a kick ass boat. The bottom is the same as the mm, but the top deck is different, causing it to be different aerodynamically, and capable of higher speeds.
At least that's my knowledge of it.

Two club members had Scorpion hulls for P Mono racing but replaced them with Titan 40s. The SprintCats run well but are more difficult to seal up and have smaller hatch access.

Is that why they chose to run the Titan 40 instead?

They were not happy with the Scorpions so they went with the Titans. A lot of this has to do with water conditions, we race in often rough windy conditions.

Yeah, I can understand why. It seems the wind blows a lot up here in Northern Michigan and the lake always seems to have some chop, especially with all the jet skis and boats cruisin' around. The pontoon boats are the worst.

Back in the day I ran a Scorpion 7.5 nitro setup. Fast as anything in calm water conditions, tended to get a bit flighty when things got rough.
Could very well have been the setup, I was a teenager then and didn't really have that good a handle on boat setup. Ran it for one season and sold it, stuck with the 3.5s until I went electric.
Always wanted another one for nostalgia, and also would sort of like to see if I could make one run better now.
I'm not 100% sure but I was led to believe at the time I had the first one in Canada, I know for sure I was the first in my club to try a surface drive. LOL probably had the prop depth all wrong. Also cold have been the inline Octura Strudder setup I had on it. Who knows, close to 30 years ago!

the scorpions are very shallow v's and have 2 sets of lifting strakes which make them very fast but also very flighty especially in rougher conditions.

As I recall now both the Scorpions in the club were specially built without the strakes. They still weren't competitive with the Titans.

I had 2 made without strakes a 31" and a 36" and I sold them both I think to guys down in your club, but I could be wrong. one guy did a Q-mono and the other guy did a P-mono and as I recall the guy who did the Q the boat ran ok but the P never ran well.

I see from what I could make out the hull on the Scorpions did appear to be shallower than the Titans. Obviously would mean more speed but at the cost of stability on rough water.
