A question for the Tunnel hull guys out there

    What's a good motor for a 24" tunnel with a OS lower unit I want to run 4 and 5s. I have a H&M Skater hull.

Pretty much the standard for tunnels...the UL-1 motor. It will be fast enough on 4S for that smaller hull, no need for 5S.

That sounds awfully mild Doby, you should know by now that I like to push things to the edge. No conservative setups for me!

I raced against a 6s skater in our 8s Supercat class, I was running an 8s Sprintcat .40/.80 and there were several other bigger cats running and it was faster than all of us by a bunch but being so small and fast couldn't handle our race water well, it was an inboard setup and self-righted pretty fast so he kept coming back for more and it was a tough Job keeping him behind me, I thought it looked like a whole lot of fun but the driver said it was one of the most frustrating things he has done, and should have kept his normal 4s setup, been about the same speed as us and followed out of our wake, as he was the only self righting cat in the race he would still probably have placed. If your not racing i doubt that anything is much more fun than a self righting skater on 6s, I doubt you can make one self right with the motor up on top of an outboard leg though.

Looks like Tower is closing these out. $80 is a bargain and the TS-3 makes a great spec tunnel. Your 24 inch will be a rocket but you'll retrieve it more than you'll drive it.

                  Chris,

UL-1 power will be more than enough for the Skater. Like Mic said, you will retrieving it more than running it. I have the necessary conversion adapter for the OS leg if you need one.

From what I'm seeing on videos, it sure looks like it will be plenty. I have to get the OS lower too, I got it with a Proboat setup but it's wore out and I figured if I have to rebuild it I might as well get a better unit and be done with it.

Chris, its a very stable tunnel. Mike (M&L Boatworks) has a bit bigger one thats even more stable, if your looking to run a tunnel with 6S or more setup....Those Top Speed tunnels run nice too .... DJ
