    45 inch mono setup

I have a 45" Dumas fiberglass mono hull I'd like to setup as FE. I was given the bare hull and was wondering could this be too large of a project? Does a hull this size typically run surface drive or with a strut assembly? I'm not looking for outrageous speed, just something running comfortably fast for fun. All I have is the hull and need to get all of the hardware. The Dumas hardware that came with it I will not be using. It did come with a strut but the instructions show a gas setup.

I have to get some information before I get started on building it. Once I get the hardware I will do a build log. I usually build scale model boats, this will be my first FE except for the RTR Blackjack 26BL I have.

Is it the Scarab? Seems to be a few of them floating around. One being mine. Got all the stuff just haven't gotten to it yet. Does yours have the FG rails in it?

Yes the Scarab. The rails are metal, instructions say to silver solder them. But I'm leaving the rails off and plan on filling in the dimple holes.

What motor, drive and battery setup do you have?

Gonna run a Proteus on 10s I believe.
One of my gas buds gave me a bunch of stuff so I can turf the stock Dumas stuff.
Here is the thread I started http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...ent&highlight=

Hear a old build thread of a 60" one that may help you out with some info for yours.

Srislash, I saw yours a while back. That's some paint job. Should help me out some what you have there.

Lenny, thanks for that link. Looks like he has a 45 inch Scarab as well, with a 4082 at 6s2p. More idea's, the more I can get the better off I am. Still looking for more, found one on RCGroups.

If anyone has more suggestions, please let me know.

Thanks Shawn. None of the pics show what she looks like after you replaced that rudder assembly. Have any recent pics? Inside and out?

Haven't got that far yet. I got stumped on committing on the use of the old gas isolaters to mount my motor mount. Think I will do that. Just don't want to cut up those rails in there too much.
I keep getting distracted on other builds.

Are you curious as too what to use?

Yupper! In the market for any of the running gear. In the link Lenny posted to the 60" build the guy mentions he used a 5692 for the 60" and a 4082 for the 45" boat. The video of the 60" speedwise looks good for me.

Not sure if you came a cross this scale build,
Just something nice and different on the water.
