I don't think it has that, but swop any 2 leads on the motor and it will spin opposite.Visit www.customcfparts.com | Custom Boat Building | Custom Carbon Fiber Parts | Custom Graphics | LMT Premium Dealer | MGM Premium Dealer | YouTube | Facebook

I was greasing the prop shafts and saw that a ball bearing was missing from one of the drive struts. Does anyone know what sizes these are and where to get them?
Same one as this http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/4376/igum.jpgComment

Can use those for outer as shown on your picture http://www.bocabearings.com/productD...aspx?ItemID=25
And those for inside the tube. http://www.bocabearings.com/productD...px?ItemID=7297
It's a good idea to have a few sets around as you will be going through them often. Typically you have a total of 4 bearings per drive. 1 flanged and 3 straight.Visit www.customcfparts.com | Custom Boat Building | Custom Carbon Fiber Parts | Custom Graphics | LMT Premium Dealer | MGM Premium Dealer | YouTube | Facebook

Thanks man. Ordered those. Launched the boat again. It seems a bit unstable on mildly choppy water when you give it about half, close to full throttle, and it tends to want to spin/flip. It doesn't really glide steadily as I expected of a boat this length. It's also surprising to me because it's really heavy with the 6S 6000 packs. My blackjack 29 was fine running right next to it at full throttle (45mph). Is there anything I need to adjust or is this normal behavior for these boats? The prop drives are in line with the body, the batteries are placed directly in the middle of the boat, nothing is off center in the hull. The props counter-rotate with the left one rotating ccw, not sure if that matters or not.Comment

Hi,
change prop direction to inwards, meaning like this:
And 45mph is not fast, sure the lipo cut-off is set properly and the lipos are good? Maybe you can also post a video. And the settting of the number of poles (eg 2 pole for LMT) just has an influence to give right rpm at the datalogging, for running the ESC it has no influence at all. And make sure to set timing to Auto for LMT.

Thanks man! I will change the props. So the left prop will rotate clockwise and the right one ccw? Right now it's the opposite of that. How do I change the motor or ESC so that they spin the other way? And when I said 45 mph I meant my blackjack 29 boat. It was riding better in that water. The new boat is definitely 75 mph+ as advertised. Insanely fast for me, I wasn't used to this. It's a savage. I adjusted the drive struts so they have a very slight angle down to them and the boat now is very stable. The lipos sit in the middle of the hull. The only issue right now that I have is somehow it's still leaking water, a very small amount, but it's getting from somewhere. Here is the latest video I took www.mystage3.com/Miscellaneous/Pairadice.rarComment

Good to see you got the boat out! You are right by saying that the boat has strange behaviours, that is normal for a HPR until setup right. Once you master the setup part you will be very happy. Drives 3-5 degrees negative and cg around 1.5-2" into the 2nd step. That should help, or worth a try at least. Those boats do like a bit of negative on the drives and they don't like traveling slow. What props are you running? 2 blades? 45-47? The props are Octura X442, two blades. Same props as in that video I did. If you recommend different props for 6S, let me know. Stephan (previous owner) was running 5S and these props. I also noticed that without the negative on the drives the boat just wants to take off and fly since it's essentially a wing shaped nose. And with the drives set too low it wants to become a submarine...It's amazing how much difference small adjustments do at speed. Do you mean I should move the batteries more towards the front or the back? Right now the middle of the battery sits at around the same level (looking from top view) as the edge of the hatch opening. Also, is there a reason why it's better to have the props rotate inwards vs. outwards ? Just wondering what the benefits are of that in terms of physics.Comment

Hi, hard to tell you exact where to place the packs as it depends on placement of other components also. You will forever be moving your packs up and down depending on the day and speed you run. A lipo slide system would be a good investment, as it will allow you to move the CG easy. I think, stick with the props you are running until you are ready for the next step. if you are having issues with the boat and the way it runs, it may not be the time to change the props to something bigger. But yes, very small adjustments at the time on those boats. The faster you want to go the harder it becomes. Inward rotating props work on many cats, but others benefit for the opposite. handling seem better with outward rotating (but only up to about 80mph) beyond that its no fun. The best you can do are a few passes at the time, make a note, and try something else.Visit www.customcfparts.com | Custom Boat Building | Custom Carbon Fiber Parts | Custom Graphics | LMT Premium Dealer | MGM Premium Dealer | YouTube | Facebook

Launched the boat again, this time with props turning inwards, it ran great, can't really tell the difference but it is really fast. One thing I've noticed today and on my other runs is that the steering acts a bit odd at slower speeds...When I turn it right or left and immediately let go of the steering wheel, the boat just continues traveling that direction instead of straightening out till I actually turn it the other way or correct it. I see no issue with the rudder when it's out of the water. The aux battery is fully charged each time. This happens constantly. Does anyone know if this is normal or not? The motors seem to be working in sync, it really tracks straight at medium and full speeds with no corrections whatsoever. But at slower speeds it just doesn't act predictably.Comment

Welcome to the HPR slow speed wobble motion lol! That's what they do, it's normal. simply get on the trigger from the start and you won't get that behaviour.Visit www.customcfparts.com | Custom Boat Building | Custom Carbon Fiber Parts | Custom Graphics | LMT Premium Dealer | MGM Premium Dealer | YouTube | Facebook

Glad to hear it's normal. I was worried it's an issue with something. Is it due to the motors spinning at different speeds at lower RPM till they equalize at a certain throttle input? Or is it actually the dynamics of the boat and rudder with slow water flow?Comment
-
Well, I'm sure many would have a theory why it behaves like that, and some boats behave better than others at slow speeds. But they are not designed cruise around in the pond like that. They drive almost completely out of the water when at speed, just like a plane flys or glides at certain speeds. So I guess in a nut shell, unless the hull is released from the water the way it's suppose to be, you can't expect the boat to behave?Visit www.customcfparts.com | Custom Boat Building | Custom Carbon Fiber Parts | Custom Graphics | LMT Premium Dealer | MGM Premium Dealer | YouTube | Facebook
