    anybody use mamba in boats?

i was going to sell my bby sc 21 but tought i would take the mamba system out of my pede and pop it in my boat. its a mamba 5700 kv sidewinder combo, wondering if this will stress out the motor to much if i keep it permanet? ill get a vid tomorrow..

I had a mamba max with the 6900kv motor in my cracker box on a 2 cell lipo. It was wicked fast, but the motor is too hot for boats and it pulled too many amps, it meled the solder off the connectos and the esc would reach thermal cut off. I think 5700 is still too hot of a set up. Once I switched to 3500kv it is better, but still a little too hot, ok on 3cell tho. I still run the mamba max in it. I'm not sure how the sidewinder compares to the mamba max.

I think a Mamba 5000-5700 with air cooling ESC will be good for a boat measuring from 20 to 22 inches in length. Might use 6-8 cells or one 7.4 2s LiPO.

that motor will work but it is pushing the limits.
start with a small prop because past experience with mamba systems is that they like to run HOT!

You do not need a bec, it has one built in, and is not rated to work with as many cells and it would take for the bec to not work. Are you running 3cell lipo? Check the manuel for the max nimh cells you can run. you may have to recalibrate your esc to your receiver, how long does it go before it stops? Mine use to go for a few minutes, then reached thremal shutdown, but I had a 6900kv motor on a 2 cell apogee battery with a octura x431 prop = big time heat!!! Did not work very well.

well, im only running 6cells, and sometimes ill run 2s lipo. it was working when i first ran it with a JR xr2i radio and rx but i wasn't running full blast, i just wanted it to cruise, and then at some points i wanted to see what it could do and did near full throttle on a flat water area and was like on off on off on off, and then i would go back down and would be fine for awile and then do it again... amd now it just does it all the time...on off on off

i'm running just the mamba max esc in my electric converted "miss vegas" aqua craft hydro plane. test drove it today with a aqua craft brushless motor. i had a 5400 3s lipo in it. ran really good. had about over 15 minutes of play with it at full tilt almost the whole time. i was thinking about running a 5700 or 7700 mamba in it, but i figured it would thermal or worse in a boat.

im running an octura x432 prop, can that be problem?

I don't think its the prop, its the motor, too much kv, the fastest boats run about 2000kv or lower. If you were running a rigger it maybe ok if it is lightweight, but it would probably only be a SAW setup, 2 passes and your done till it cools down.
