As you can see from my Avatar Mike, I love canards. I've never seen a decent kit for one of them. Something in the 36"-40" range for 6s-8s would be great. Although, I doubt if it would be a big seller.
Cheers.See the danger. THEN DO IT ANYWAY!!!

Riggers!! Full P and larger. There are still none on the market that I know of specifically designed for FE's. Everything out there is either converted nitro or custom made. I'm working on a S powered Road Runner clone with a gentleman in my club. Don Ferrette knows him very well. He is building a 40 inch x 4.5" tub for me with a taller deck and wider boom tube spacing to accommodate a variety of batteries and hardware configurations. We had a few Open FE riggers running in the district this year and they were impressive. Remember the wide JAE tub you cut for me a few years ago? 2nd place in three Open Hydro races this year. Lost to Don's T Rigger twice and came in second behind a gas Sport Hydro in Atlanta with nine entries (I had to say in lane 10 most of the time with all the gas boats.) P-Limited is nice but it's time to unleash the big dogs on the nitro boys!!!Last edited by Chilli; 12-19-2013, 10:33 PM.Mike Chirillo

this may sound ridiculous, but what about a cat, that is built in two sections, top and bottom, then joined. like a fiberglass hull.Comment

Some great feedback so far guys. Here is what I personally had on a mental list of "To Do's", and some things already in the works:
1) Gas Thunder boat design started
2) Glenn Quarles has sent the Texan .12 size rigger out, should be here soon. I am kitting it.
3) Lots of 1/8th scale kits have been started, and I would love to finish them up soon. Some of them are the "Extreme Series" kits.
4)The 32" Nitro Wild thing has been released, and John will be building the 36" FE prototype Wild Thing over the holidays and testing. I am also finalizing the 32" FE version, and will be making a cowling plug/ mold.
5) Make changes to the 36.5" and 39.5" FE and nitro O/B Tunnels. (the prototype FE 39.5" is the fasted tunnel in IMPBA @ 78.42mph combined, 79.5mph fast pass, but needs some sponson mods to turn better)
6) A 38" sport 40 version of the GSX480 gas sport hydroplane if the testing turns out as well as we hope on the gas version...testing on that is hopefully this weekend.
7) YES, I plan on doing a P-limited, full P and Q rigger this year. That is one thing that is very high on the list. Brian, I would love to discuss things with you.
8) A smaller mono around 27" would be good...however John taught me a lot on mono design, and it will be a challenge to run properly due to length
9)1/10th scale hydroplane trailer...a smaller version of the just released 1/8th scale version!
10) 46" Gas O/B tunnel...Competition is looming, so its time to go for broke! What could be better than taking the winning est gas tunnel of all time, and make it faster.
11) I have some plans for a 36" CAT that I have wanted to use as a base plan for years now..maybe that happens soon.
12) An Airboat
13) A ski vee type hull
14) A fun retrieval boat
15) A kids lineup of kits...simple, beginner kits
I am also going to pursue a dealership of Speedmaster hardware, and I am looking for someone to make turn fins exclusively for me and the GP series kits. I see a real need for that. I think some hardware packages would be a good thing.
Sorry, no Canard at this time. I am not that advanced of a designer, and those require major skills!

I would also like to see a rigger, so glad to see that on your list. I wonder if there were some third party that you could partner with to offer your better selling boat designs in Fiberglass for those that are not able to build them.
The holy grail would be able to find someone to build your boats at a cost effective price to sell. I am dreaming at this point, but it would be a pretty big deal. It appeared during that brief time you
were building boats for people there was a pretty good demand for it.
I would also say a nice big mono that races in the P-Mono class would be cool. The Titan boat is dominating at our club and I am always on the look out for a mono that could give that boat a good race.Comment

Jim, Mike posted this yesterday:
Hey,
I am working on getting someone to do builds that has the time. We are interviewing him right now, to see how he does. If it all checks out, I will send you his way. I just don't have the time to build anymore. I have a few people on a list, but the list has gotten so old they have probably moved on from me building anything for them. The last year has been busy for sure. Shoot me a PM if you would like to be a possible list for the other guy to build a hull for you. Thanks ,Mike
