    Motor suggestions for CF Cheetah

    Hi all,
I just bought a CF cheetah due to the recommendation from KBB.
I am unsure whether to go single or twins. I have a budget of $500 for the motor/s
    I am after 65mph + (would really like 70mph)

    I am thinking 2x 4092 1800kv running 5s each motor.

Does anyone have any other ideas for better quality or faster motors?

    Thanks,
    Todd

I'm building one with twin setup and I'm using two TP 4060 1450kv 40mm dia. 92mm long and two SF 200 pro plus ESCs. I'm going to be running it on 4s 5s and 6s

Properchopper put a single TP4060/2040 in his Cheetah and it's ballistic.

I'm totally enjoying my boat at/or near 60mph with the current setup, having weaned myself off the GPS Truth-O-Meter. While short bursts over 60 mph is certainly available with more power, the hull (like all tunnels) packs air and I firmly believe that in the 60mph zone there's fun to be had minus all the rescue boat extravaganza. While twins sound enticingly cool and I love the sound, the added complexity (especially during installation) will add expense and weight (and twice the prop lift) Some twin Cheetah builders have reported wet running/plowing which, as a minority of one, I think is partially caused by too much weight. Others will disagree but I'm OK with that

My setup does nicely with the TP Power 4060 2040KV motor [on 4S2P] which retails for a whopping $119.

If you're just starting out buying a single and spending the extra money on another set of packs. That way you can get in a few runs and thats usually what it takes to get it dialed in anyway. I have seen a lot of twin cheetahs and they run great, but properchopper's does too and he runs a single. Single vs. twin video, can't go wrong.

I vote single also. The cheetah plows with a twin setup from what I've heard. I decided on a 1717 castle on 5s to start and then maybe 6s if its not fast enough for me. Im in the middle of a carbon fiber cheetah and daytona build myself.

I will be going a big single.
I am looking at the TP 5650 1200 KV. Its a big bloody motor but should be a lot of fun. Weight shouldn't be an issue as its the same weight as 2x 4082s. I may need to do some cut and shut on the hatch but time will tell.
If its too big ill throw it in saw build that I'll eventually do.

                    I must say...
Any hull that runs fine as a single and plows as a twin is victim of improper setup. You should be able to lift a hull more with two props than you can with one. If you can't, you're doing something wrong.

                      Keith,
I have to agree, having seen videos of the twin Cheetahs that you've built, that when rigged as correctly as you have , they run beautifully. (Plus, they've happily passed my own agenda-driven bias-bar of doing "six laps on the 1/6 mile"). I will still maintain, however unpopular to some builders this claim may be, that getting this hull to run properly in the 70 mph realm isn't simply a matter of dropping in twins, or oversized/overvolted motors.
