blackjack 29 / miss geico question

Is it okay to run 3 2s batteries in a blackjack 29? Series or parallel?

    Hi,
If you run them in // then you will only have 2S voltage and the boat will poke along pretty darn slowly, but you can run all day... 8^)
Putting them in series will give you a 6S config. Here's the rub on that one:

The Miss Geico has the RIGHT motor to handle 6S (1500kv), but the WRONG ESC. The stock Geico ESC is rated for 2S-4S voltage only.

The Blackack's motor is 1800kv which IMHO is too much RPM on 6S for a long term reliable boat. Some people run this motor on 6S but the 1500kv motor is a better choice for that. The Blackjack ESC IS rated for 6S voltage, but it is only 80A, so it will work provided you use a small prop.

The best config for these boats with stock ESCs is 4S (2 x 2S1P in serial). You can upgrade to an x642 prop and get into the high 40's no problem and the boats will run cool as a cucumber. On the blackjack, you will get pretty much the same speed on 4S with the x642 prop as you would with 6S with an x440 prop. If you are tempted to try to prop up on 6S you will quickly exceed 80A and burn up the ESC. You will hear people say they run on 6S no problem, but you will also find many many examples of ESC failures with this config.

    Happy boating!
    Chief
