Outer Limits Drive coupling ???

Hi.

I'm having difficulties in taking my drive coupling off my Outer Limits boat. It's a aeroquip fitting I think. The jaws won't come loose. I don't have a screw driver small enough to spread them apart. I get the guys to help me at the boat club but really want to do the grease up on the flex shaft before i get there.

Any tips on what I might be doing wrong.

You mean an Aeromarine coupler. The one with the brass insert?

You may have to loosen the nut, then tap it rearward.Then you should see the compression slots. You should be able to tap or pry between the slots slightly one at a time working around the flex cable till it releases.
BTW this comes from over tightening. No worries I have done it myself. Just get a new insert from here at OSE. Look under the Aeromarine collet (spare insert).

Hi Mark.
Use the long nose pliers & a spanner like I showed you & twist it to crack the seal.
If you are coming to Boondall on Saturday I'll replace it with an Octura if you like. I've got a couple lying around here somewhere.
That coupler was always difficult to undo. I should have changed it before.
