    A quick ? about a Mamba Max 2

I know this should probably go in the anything electric threads, but I need a quick answer. I am currently running Nimh batteries
in a buggy. I just received a set of Lipo's for it. Until I can buy more sets of Lipo's for it, I would *like* to be able to use both
types of batteries. Can I just use the Lipo's and use a timer? OR should I program the Mamba max esc for lipo's first?
If I program for lipo's, would anything bad happen if I ran with Nimh's?
This is probably a dumb ? to some of you, but

It's not a "dumb" question at all...

The simple answer is YES, you can run LiPo on the NiMh setting, but have to be extra careful NOT to over-discharge. If you can figure out your average amp-draw, then you should be able to calculate the time it takes to run out #### mAh . Try not to discharge more than 70% or so of the total capacity and you should be fine. Not leaving yourself many safeguards that way. The NiMH mode doesn't have the low voltage cutoffs that the LiPo mode has.

To answer your second question... "would anyhting bad happen if I ran with NiMh's" when programmed to lipo mode... Certainly not. What would probably happen is that, because of the increased voltage depression under load for the NiMH packs, the power will cutoff sooner than it would with LiPo, or if you were running with NiMh in NiMh mode. It certainly won't hurt anything, though.

Once you start running Lipos... is suspect you'll ditch the NiMh pretty quickly....

    Hope this helps some...

Thankz for the reply Darin. I have been using lipo's for some time now, but did not have any high mah 2s batteries. could only afford 1 set till next payday.
The buggy came with a set of 3000mah 7 cell Nimh's. Run time is only about 4 minutes. Charger says I'm putting back about 1200mah. Lipo's I bought here
on OSE, (lightly used), are Nano Tech 2s 4500mah's. I wish my 6500mah 4s batteries would fit in the battery trays of this buggy, (actually a 1/10 Summit).

If it's setup for 2S, it's likely only good for 2S/3S... I'm not sure the Mamba Max 2 is made for 4S?? Not sure... haven't looked lately...

The Summit is designed for 2s or 3s in series config. or 15 to 23 volts. I swapped the stock motor with a 1717 2200kv. Doubt I will ever try 3s 2 foot 20 pound missile

I ran the EVX 2 ESC on my summit. I jerked the stock titan motor & replaced it with a 14.4v Dewalt motor, on 4s power. Two 2s 6000mah 35c packs with a liposhield. That thing would flat get with it. It was a blast to play in the snow with it too. However don't waste the $60 for the MIP axles, They Suck. The stock axles are stronger than they are....
