    Hyperion 6060i got me scared!!!

Hi i posted this on RCgroups you can go here to see the detailed photos

Anyone with a hyperion can you please help...

Hi I recently got this 6060i dc charger Here is what it does on all my 2s packs.
The voltage of each cell goes over 4.2 volts as it's charging...4.22 to be exact and total voltage on 2s packs is 8.442 at end of charge and ech cell at the end of charge is always 4.21 or 4.22 as you can see in the photos.
Thing that scares me is is it bad to go over 4.2V per cell?

Also after charging with the 6060i i connect a blinky on the pack and it blinks and when done discharging and i put it back on the 6060i the voltage reads 4.198V as you can see in the photos almost perfect... 6060i is over charging?

Also used my ICE with max amps balancer and got the 4.198 (4.19V0 on both cells.
also tested with MRC 977 PRO with max amps balancer and also got a 4.19 per cell readings...and the blinky did not discharge any voltage from my batteries that came off the ICE or 977??

so this is why i am scared 4.22volts per cell is it not normal should i return my new charger....does anyone have screen shots of there hyperion chargers balance screen with specs ...chek yours please let me know if this is how the 6060i supposed to work.

    THANK YOU
:p What go faster that's what I like to do!

you can't directly compare apples and oranges(or in this case charger readouts). before you can compare them you need a digital voltmeter accurate out to at least 1/100v and measure the (pack voltage if nothing else). the 610 duo's up to firmware v1.5, have a glitch that shows the voltage that is higher than the actual pack/cell voltage(the balance display is accurate tho). 4.2v is a safe voltage...I understand that you need to worry when it gets close to 4.3v per cell. since nipponDave doesn't post here you prolly will not get the complete answer here.
Still waiting for my boat to come in.it came in

Hi Rex thing is it must be over charging because on my 977 and ice when i fully charge a pack the blinky don't even light up and when i put those packs on my hyperion it says the voltage per cell are 4.19 .....and when i charge a pack on my hyperion when it's done and i put it on the blinky it lights up and discharges it and when i re check voltages of the cells on my hyperion it then says 4.19v so that leaves me to believe the hyperion is over charging ....this is not good....

Every 2s pcak I have ever owned charges to 8.4v. I would be worried if they didnt charge that high. I also have a hyperion charger.

I also have the same charger and had the same question. SJFE told me that was fine and it would be ok. That was about 8 months ago and my 2S packs are still kickin a$$. Will

Hi guys total pack 2s voltage goes to 8.442V that's .42 of a volt over 8.4 this is what i am scared of ...the 2 cells are getting up to 4.220V each or a little more at times of charge?

It is fine mine do the same thing and have countless runs on them.

Like SJFE said I would be worried if they did not hit 8.44 or if they go over. ROAR rules state that a 2s lipo cannot exceed 8.44v during tech inspection.

Once you get over 8.44 there is something wrong with one or both of the cells.

I also have a 606I and it displays the same voltage as yours. Test the packs with a voltmeter mine show 8.44volts exactly I wouldnt worry.

If you look at my photo i attached mine is over 8.44 volts..... and my battery pack is almost new only charged it a few times... But like i was saying when i use my ICE or my MRC 977 with a max amps external balancer the packs only charge to8.4v they only over charge on the hyperion charger so my battery can't be bad?

8.45 is over 8.44 - 8.442 is not over. If you are concerned then get yourself a voltmeter and check them that way.

I do however think you are worrying about nothing

Think of it this way .002 of a volt not a whole lot is it.

Like I said my 606 shows the SAME voltage as yours. My packs even show the same voltage when the come off my EOS 1210i, even though the display on the 1210 shows 8.40, but my voltmeter shows the same.

                            I think you're over by .042v not .42v per 2s pack so I wouldn't worry about it.

nothing wrong with that. i have over 20 packs of 2s, each will change up to that voltage.
