Anyone run twin cordite ss-1 motors

    Hello everybody

I am picking up an Astroflight 212d with a cordite ss-1, 700 class motor PDQ.
I am using the astroflight in my Villain, but I have the chance to pick up a 2nd cordite ss-1 for $40.

I am not familiar with 700 class motors, but I know the cordite is fast as hell.
I was wondering if its possible to run cordite twins in a villain ?, anyone tried it ?.......

    Thanks

You don't think a pair of 700 size would be heavy for the hull? How big is it again?
Just going off one of my old Traxxas 750's that are here.

      Hiya Sash

I did some searching & pulled out a couple calipers earlier just to be accurate.
The cordite is 1 -11/16" wide, 3/16" wider than the stock 20t stingers.
I have 3/4" of an inch of clearance between he stingers motor cans.
If the Cordite's will require 3/8" more footprint than the stingers, that still leaves 3/8" clearance between them if they were installed.

Here is what I am wondering. Idk how long the Cordite's are, or how heavy they are.
I thought about the titan 775 that was in my summit. That thing was a beast. The weird thing is the 775 is a 550 class motor, not a 700 class like I thought it was ??.

Man it has been awhile since I have given much thought to brushed motors. I'll have a poke around myself.

We'll check post -4 for a visual comparison

Thanks Slash, I am also deliberating on a pair of 21T traxxas monster 550 motors. They're the stock motors on e-revo's & villain ex's. They're stump pullers & a far cry better than stingers..... Especially if I flip flop the factory gearing like a 2:1 overdrive.

I bet if I were to take the 14t pinions, put them on the drillpress & bore them out to 4mm, they'll accept the driveshafts. Then put new steel 28t Pinons on the motors, turning it into a 2:1 overdrive, ie: the props spin at 2x the rate of the motors .

Alright, I passed on the Cordite's. I ordered a pair of 19t Hpi GT550's (Johnson 550's) . more torque & top speed than the villain ex motors :-)

Back in the day I used to go to great lengths to match up a pair of brushed motors. At least you could tweak em and measure current draw. Kinda stuck with brushless.
