    Newbie questions....

    Hi fellas,

New to RC boating been mainly been an on road 1/10 TC racer for a couple of years then got into 1/8 electric buggies. Eventually 1/5 Baja oval racing. Now got rid of most of my racers just the bashers like a 1/7 FLM heavily modded brushless savvy, emaxx brushless minor modded, couple of Durango rigs still left, AE sc10b dune buggy conversion, tons of custom one off crawlers most Axial based. Most waterproofed and as bulletproof as possible 3s and 4s powered.

So 100% electric brushless guy lol. No more gas no more nitro.

Just ordered a Revolt 30 FE RTR as it was between that or the Impulse 31 V2 RTR. I'm not a fan of RTRs so it will be completely dismantled and rebuilt so I know every part of my RC like the rest of my collection.

    1. What is the difference between a marine rx and a typical surface rx? I have a 4PL I'd like to use instead of the stock radio.

    2. I know with the stock setup I should be able to hit near 40 on perfect water but what upgrades do most people do right off the bat? I'd assume a better and faster rudder servo? Any suggestions? Most of my servos are all high end Hitec and a couple of Savox.

    3. If I upgrade the servo what's the ideal torque and speed to look for and would I need any external BEC like castles BEC I run for all my crawlers?

    4. How do I know when to bring the boat in before LVC? I have tons of 5000mah 3s 40-50C packs, as well as 4 5000mah 4s 50C packs. I'd also assume running dual 2s matched packs would be better than a single 4s pack? Is it because of weight distribution?

    5. What is this tennis ball fishing pole thing to retrieve a capsized or dead boat?

    Thanks!!

Take a look at my upgrades in the swap shop.

    Sharpen your rudder.

I found the m445 is a good prop to start with. You can get more aggressive from there. The Octura m props do not fit on the Kintec upgraded flex cable shafts. They do fit on the OSE upgraded flex cable shafts though.

You will need to slightly grind the stock servo mount so a standard size servo fits.

If you want to avoid the LVC from kicking in, you will need to time your runs. The stock ESC's LVC is too low. If you don't want to time your runs, the SK 120A has a programmable LVC that you can set at 3.2V
