So i'm looking at this boat, about to put things together and I realise that the pre cut servo mount only holds a micro servo, for a boat of this size (660mm) that just doesn't seem right. Now I have plenty of micro servo's but I had planned to use the kick ass standard servo I have sitting next to it. What do you think is more appropriate?? Is it good enough to cable tie the big one down or should I buy alloy mounts?
Doesn't seem right?

Depends on the servo, I run a JAE .12 nitro rigger with a Hitec HS-85mg servo, no issues what so ever, it's a fast boat! Crashed many times, hit turn markers etc, still the original servo from 3 years ago.If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps? -
Is that a 9g servo? I've got lots of different types of them. I am using one in a ridiculously fast sea rider. doesn't seem right on this one though. Look how small it is in the boat! How big is the rigger?"Speeds just a matter of money, how fast do you wanna go?"Comment

I just encountered a situation not unlike yours on a customer build [Mini Sniper]. The customer sent me a servo and mount. I then discovered that there's a size difference between a Mini Servo and Micro Servo.. I was sent a Micro Servo (which spec-wise was quite strong enough) but the mount was for a Mini Servo.

I searched and searched for a Micro Servo mount but not finding any finally modded the Mini Servo mount. Took a bit of fiddling !

I am in the process of trying to put a steerable outdrive on a 21" rigger. At the moment its got a full size servo in it, but I think its going to get changed to a mini servo to make a more workable space. I guess it depends how functional it is & what your comfortable with.

Problem solved! Rc boat Bitz in my hometown have the perfect alloy mount for the high torque standard size servo I want to use and they are very reasonably priced. It will be delivers by tomorrow!"Speeds just a matter of money, how fast do you wanna go?"Comment
