    hammer ep upgrade -need help!

Hi- I need help on upgrading my aquacraft hammer ep. Does anybody know what engines, propellers, or speed controls are needed to make it go faster? I can't find the right size motor or propeller anywhere. If someone could help me I would greatly appreciate it!:help

From my understanding a Hammer motor is a 550 size can. If you want to hop it up try a 19 turn motor in it. Im not sure what the stock esc is rated maybe somone else knows. But just to be safe get a esc that can handle a 19 turn. Usually esc's have a range of turns they can handle. The stock hammer motor has a lot of torque and works pretty good in a X-cellerator.

i have one and i was going to upgrade it so i did all the research but then i got a villain and haven't looked back. But as i recall, the esc to get is this http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...rod=dh-prb2314, and a 19 turn speed 600 motor, i was looking at the great planes one from towerhobbies, http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXJ766&P=7. i don't recall props but there is a huge thread on this over at rcuniverse. here it is http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_20..._1/key_/tm.htm, on the first page, scroll down a bit and theres a post by 48chebbie on the perfect "recipe". theres also tons of info in that thread and it'd also be easy to upgrade to brushless if you want

the thing about the hammer is that its such a simple design so theres a mllion different setups that it'd run good on. the problem is that its got a subsurface drive, but as long as thats taken into consideration, you shouldn't have a problem.

The only problem that i know of is the stock hull likes to cavitate. And that is not good this means that
from a certain rpm and up that high rpm motor is useless. From what ive heard i think they said 25mph
is the limit with the stock setup. Also the the through hull design limits the size of the prop that can be used.

yea, i have one and it cavitates a ton, not very much fun if you ask me. But if you want to seriously upgrade then you can turn it into a surface drive pretty easy, but it isn't really needed. For some 25mph could be plenty(yea, right) and i have read that the proboat esc and a speed 600 19t are the best upgrade. from there the next step would be changing the driveshaft so it could fit other props, Steve has an article on this

but once again you run into the problem of it being a subsurface drive. But as long as you go into this knowing that as a limitation, it should be a lot of fun
