    buying a new boat

I was wondering if anyone had any input on either one of these 2 boats .. Im getting ready to purchase one of the two and wanna make sure im making the right decision.. The first is a lighty used 40" Genesis with a Leopard motor and a 180amp turnigy esc. The other choice is a new 58" Atomik Cat v2 rtr ... Thx Rob

not to sure about the atomik, i looked into em a year or so back but nothing impressed me and nobody runs them soo... as for the genesis, its a good boat but only really serves one purpose, going fast in a straight line on calm water. if you are just looking for something to race around the pond with its fine but dont push your luck on any kind slightly rough water or wind. btw if the genesis does not have flex shaft upgrade and rudder/stinger mods i would strongly consider it with the motor/esc combo

If you want to stick to 2x 2S 5000mah or 4S 5000mah config, then you pretty much want a 30" boat. The proboat and aquacraft cats are pretty nice RTRs at that size and they handle completely different than a mono. If you go larger then you'll probably need different lipo config.

I'm not limited to a certain battery size. I wanted something bigger than the revolt I already have. I have a couple sets of thunderpower 6s 2700mah I could run parallel for a total of 6s 5400mah ..just need a boat to put em in

I've seen the Atomic run and was not impressed with it, but it does "look" impressive. The genesis is a decent boat and properly set up can be an "OK" race boat and pretty good sport runner.

I have the Atomik 58" but not the RTR I bought the ARR, no motor or electronics. I am going to run a Leopard 56110 , 780kv on 10 cell with a Swordfish 300amp esc. This should be quite a bit faster than the stock RTR set up. Steven Vaccaro mentioned he will be using this set up on his Atomik and im just waiting to hear from him on how he likes it and any changes he might have made to the set up.

Its seems alot of negative feedback on the atomic. What is it that noone likes about it.. speed, handling, stock electronics etc..? Does anyone have a good suggestion on something ? Trying to go bigger than 40" and under say $600 - $700. Thx for any advice

I think he was running one 4s pack for each setup,
And you could just us some Turnigy 40c packs and it should run nice.
I think if you want high end pack you should go with the new kid on the block that are these,
But that is only if you are really looking for all out power from your packs. http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...rand-Batteries
Also that run was on the stock setup,
The one up grade he just did was the one piece flex shafts.
That make it a lot easier to grease them.
I am not sure if he has be running it lately and on what other S cells,
May be he will chime in if he see the post.
