    DF Vortex 22 - 2S or 4S?

Just purchased this boat with hardware. I thought it was going to be the 17", but I was wrong, it is the 22".

Here is what I have laying around:
Tacon 3674 - 1900kv that came with it
    FDM Nemesis 8S
    Hacker 70amp ESC

I know I am going to have to buy more/different items to finish this, but will the 8S be a good 2S motor? Will the Tacon be a good 4S motor? Which would be better motor for its cell count?

    Thanks,
    Chris

The Nemesis 8S comes out to around 32,000RPM at 7.4v. This is a 36mm X 51mm motor, if that helps.
The Tacon 3674 comes out to around 28,000RPM at 14.8v.

I am just trying to figure out which is the better option for its respective voltage. Is the 8S too small of a motor for this hydro?

Any help is appeciated. I have read almost every article when searching for "Vortex" and the only good info I can find is the 2 setups that are way overkill, IMO.

I had a supervenes motor which is 36mmx56mm and 1700kv and it ran great, plenty of power on 4s

Either would work fine. It's a good hull for your Nemesis 8s but I don't think your esc would last long.

inrunner 2845-2700kv on twin lipos at 3S, each 2500maH which would run cooler and easy on equipment with a 632 prop.

Joe, what size ESC would I need for the 8S? And you are talking a 7.4/2S setup, correct? Any more and the RPM would be way up there.

Southwest, I have the batteries to do that, but don't have a motor that size... or maybe I do...

Where are you located in Iowa?

I found in an old box of goodies a Flyermate Atlantis 60A ESC and a 3600kv watercooled motor. The motor is one of those blue ones with the integrated watercooling. The dimension of the motor is about 29mm X 59mm(this is a long measurement bc of the water cooling). 3S would be about 39,000 RPM......

Yes, a 2s1p set up for that motor. 120 amp esc should do it for that motor.

I'd run the 3600 on 2S which would be 26,500 or so if motor has high efficeinty, 25C or 30c rating in the 2500maH. Now for me, I would get a 637 and cut it down to 634 or 633 as your rpm being 26,500 . that would be close to sweet spot if you had a 2700kv on 3S. Now that is me!

Joe, what prop would you recommend for the 8S setup? Are there any carbon props that are worth trying also?

Southwest, is the motor on the small side? Would it heat up more than the Nemesis 8S?

With a light build you should be able to run a 435 comfortatably, a 635 for a little more performance.

For plastic props, http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...od=grp-2327.33 would be ok.

Thanks Joe! I think I will go with the Nemesis 8S setup first and see how I like it. I do have a 120A ESC, non watercooled, but it should work for a few laps to see how it runs and I can check the temps.
