    40" Mono Build Questions

I have a chance to pick up a brand new 40" mono hull that has never been built. I do not know the brand at this time. i can get it very cheap and it comes with lots of extras that i can probably sell off.

My question before i decided if i should purchase it is would this be a "workable" hull?

Meaning if i wanted to make it electric would this be something that i could do? Like for example i know it wont be light so im worried about the ability to have motors strong enough to push a hull of this size to a reasonable speed? or even possibly duals? The hull has never had anything installed nor has it ever had any holes drilled so this would be a 100% fresh build.

If i do decide to go eletric can i get a recommendation for some motors? I really like the duals idea.

    Thanks!

There is no problem with finding a motor for that boat. 40" is not huge. I don't have any that size so i'll leave the motor suggestions to those who do. One main question. Does it have a hatch. You will def need one. If it does than you should be good to go.

It does have a hatch. So I'll probably get it

A 5684, 5682, 5692, in the 1200kv range works well for me in my 40" mono on 6S2P Dinogy and SF240 esc. I can turn a 52mm prop for about 4 min or so. Nothing gets hot. I run a HOR SSS 5684 motor, 1200kv. I need more tuning time to see how big I can go propwise but, my buddy Doby that bought my old HOR SSS 5694 , 1200kv motor was turning a 68mm Grimm prop in his DF41" and it really came alive! TP Power makes similar motors and then there is also Leopards and Neu motors.

            Hi

I have a 40" mono currently being built ( along with several others!) which is taking longer than usual. I am trying one of the Turnigy T600 1400kv heli outrunners in it.

            http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...i_1400kv_.html

They fit the standard watercooled mounts available virtually anyware and on 6S , should be a torque monster. Looking at 47-50mm prop at present, probably start off with one of the Graupner carbon ones to get best idea of size, then get a metal equivalent

It is a hull styled on the Cigarette range by a maker here in the Uk with his own version of deck/hatch. Current set up uses a Turnigy T180 esc and 2 Turnigy 8400 mah 3S lipos in series. Drive is through a 3/16" stinger and offset rudder.
