Phil Thomas SS45 Q Sport Question

Hi everyone. Question regarding the bottom of my SS45. The relief is on the left sponson only. I would assume the intention is to shift the boat centerline to the left while on plane (essentially transfers weight to the right side of the boat, for turning). Thoughts anyone? Thanks!!

Get it from the horse's mouth, ask Phil! I am sure he would be more that willing to explane the theory.

    Later,
    Mike

The offset on the left helps the boat turn flatter. It also helps dump some air on the left side of the hull. Scale and sport boats all tend to lift the left and blow off. This hull design originally came form a Dave Frank hull in Washington state about 30 years ago. I made some changes to the nose and added the front canards, I have been racing this boat since 1990 and have not found a better heat racing boat. Last change was less angle in the tunnels on the side of the belly pan, just a coupe year ago to meet a Namba rule. Maybe working on a new sport 40 hull and a bigger gas hull this winter more like the 30 " Stealth boat, people are wanting something different all the time but the SSP45 just works well.
