    Inch madness?

    Could someone please explain why it's worthwhile replacing the flex shaft on ARTRs (Apparition, Genesis,...) to the 3/16 stuffing tube and .150 flex?

    I've measured the stock flex and it's ~3.96mm.
    The recommended upgrade is this (correct me if I'm wrong).

    .150" == 3.81mm (right?)
    The only benefit I see is that the flex and prop shafts are combined

    I've ordered this and the quality seems much better then the stock two piece assembly. It's tighter wound and feels much sturdier overall.
    Haven't tested it yet though.
    Any thoughts?

    Much obliged!

    The Octura and OSE replacement shafts for many of the RTR boats are simply better quality. The flex to stub-shaft connection (soldering) is much straighter. The cable is higher quality and doesn't rust or wind-up as much, the stub shafts are more precisely .1875", etc....

    All that said... on my Pro Boat stuff (IM31, MG, Mystic, BJ29, etc.)... I've yet to have a cable fail. I keep them clean and dry after a day on the lake, and lube them well before I head back out, and they seem to just keep working fine. As long as the factory solder job is staight and true, I run them...

      Interesting, thanks for the heads up.
      I always clean the driveline after a run, but I also grease and reinstall it.

      Is it better to leave it dry, especially if you know you wont be running it for a while?

      The one piece flex I've ordered seems very nicely put together.

      I'll report back when I test it out thoroughly.
