Not all heatshrink tubing is the same quility

Not all heatshrink tubing is the same quality as I have just found out!

Does any one know what the good rubbery quality heat shrink is called? or the material its made of,
I have been trying for weeks to track
    some down in the UK
having a hard time to find what I am looking for even after a lot of googling.

There is a really good high quality rubbery type shrink, maybe adhesive lined shrink tubing that I am after,
I think it was called rubber Tommy tubing from memory?

The same tubing you once got on the fighercat esc or fliermodel esc's and it is really really good
and there is also a crappy cheap Polyolefin heatshrink tubing like a thin no stretchy type of plastic just bought some and its only good for the bin
    any advise would be great.
    thanks

Sam if you go to Ebay.co.uk & put in 3:1 ratio heat shrink this is the much thicker adhesive lined heat shrink, I know some of the regular sellers of heat shrink 2:1 ratio also sell the 3:1 stuff. When you select the sizes & colour you want it also comes up with the shrink ratio you want, this 3:1 ratio stuff is excellent so much so I wouldn't ever use the thinner unadhesive again. Its pretty cheap as well, I think I paid just over £1 per 500mm inc post for 9mm diam.

By the way all of the 3:1 stuff I found is adhesive lined & the material is twice the thickness of regular heat shrink, the adhesive really does stick as well be activated by the heat.

Thanks Martin 3:1 it is then, that sounds like the stuff I am after, is it the soft rubbery type you got and not plastic?
        while your around!
What would be your opion on a Popeye hull running on the type of water we have in the UK, do you think i would have to buy chest wadders to run one.

I wouldn't say its rubbery but it does fell a bit different to the thin 2:1 stuff, not sure if the different feel is due to twice as thick wall & theirs a slight spongy feel from the adhesive. I know when fitted onto bullets & wire it sticks well & dosnt keep sliding off like the other stuff does, I know Keith Bradley on this forum now sells this adhesive lined shrink tube on his wed site & says good things about it. I never go without chest wader as my lake is only a few feet deep just in case, I also use a resue tug as well for deeper water. You can also get small quantitys of adhesive lined 3:1 & 4:1 from heatshrink-online.co.uk.

Have a look on Keith Bradleys site if you can't find any in the UK

Keep an eye on the temp specs as well. The stuff I use has '125C' printed on it and I've found it to be exceptional to others.

Yes I always go with the 125c 3:1 glue lined tube.
