    Offshore question NAMBA rules.

OK I have a technical question. When running in Offshore lanes should be consistent all the way around the course. Correct???? (this course is the Namba off set course or M course). If we have two or more boats are side by side. When starting the race the lead boat on the inside has lane one all the way around the course until when coming in to the turn on the start finish buoy lanes change position and the lead boat in lane one is now on the out side of the course. For all the rest of the buoy's the lead boat now has lane one for that buoy only. We do use lanes in Offshore correct???? You can not just go all over the place and call it OK. Lanes should never crossover them self's. That would be a safety hazard. What do you guys that race think?

I think you cannot guarentee a lane when you have the overlap rule for racing.

I've always wanted to run offshore. From what I gather the lane rules apply to all. But like said above left and right turns. If the distance between boats is great than lane preference is up to lead boat. And considering left/right turn gives equally advantages. (But not really because only one left turn). Good question, I'll be eager to know more opinions.

coper you pretty much got it...no reason to stay in lane 2 for the hole race if no one is in lane 1

That is totally correct. You are getting my point. In my question all boats are even in speed and driver skill. They are all piled up together, whether it is two, three or four boats does not matter.
