I have a genesis 900 with a turnigy 180 esc leopard 4082 1600k motor. I use 6000 nano tech 3s lipos in series with a CNC x445 prop. Since I put the 4082 in it seems like I get full throttle for about 30 sec. I mean it really rips but then it levels off to just about half throttle. I can pull the trigger on my flysky all the way and back and put it half way with no change in speed. From half trigger pull to full trigger pull my boat doesn't change speed. I haven't check the top speed but I know I should be way faster then what its going. I have no binding and it does run faster the first 30 sec I put it in the water. I'm thinking my lipos are going but I would like if anyone else has any ideas. Thanks

Assuming you have correct throttle calibration between your ESC and tx, you have the same issue as many people have: the LVC kicks in from the T-180ESC. If you have the programing box, turn the auto cell count off, then try again. Watch out your run time, don't exceed 2 min.
Having said that, your lipo batteries may be suspect; they may show "correct charged" voltage under no load, once it is under load and your 4082 would be pulling more current than the stock motor, it may dip below threshold thus triggering the LVC from the ESC. This ESC is notorious for the early engagement of the LVC, however.Too many boats, not enough time... -
So if I turn off the auto cell count and run it for 2 minutes and don't have the problem. I could assume the esc is no good? If I don't notice a change I can target my lipos? I ran all the usual checks on my icharger and my cells are good so it says. Should I turn off the low voltage protection if all else fails? ThanksComment

I run many boats with the T180. Although I buy Seaking--same thing. I personally have never had to turn off the low voltage protection. My batteries to the best of my knowledge were running good. You need to eliminate your problem(s) . The 2 min. time is for the protection of your batteries and your components, what I mean is you need to check the temp and also not overly discharge your batteries ( not likely under 2 min. though). I don't know the condition of your lipos , but it is usually the LVC that is preventing you from WOT runs, there is another thread just like yours two days ago.
Did you check your temp? Although 30 seconds would not reveal too much.

It is never a good idea to run the batteries down to LVC anyway, you should have 30% left in your batteries, your 6000mah should have 1800 mah left in them, you should only need to charge 4200 mah back .Too many boats, not enough time...Comment

I ran the boat anyway until what I assume the LVP kicked in and I had to idle in. Both my ESC and motor where cool to the touch. I forgot my temp gun at home. I'm going to reset my tx/rx just to eliminate that. I don't think thats it but I'll try anyway. Like I said it does seem to run great for the first 30 sec. My lipos have about 15 chargers on them and I always stored them by the book. Not that doesn't mean they couldn't fail. Do u know the name of that thread? Thanks againComment

I had a similar problem with my T180. Had to reset the throttle. The part where the manual says " move the throttle stick to full throttle, then connect the battery pack to the ESC, after 2 seconds a beep beep will be heard (means full throttle confirmed). Release the throttle stick to neutral a beep tone can be heard (means neutral is confirmed) Note when the beep tone is emitted the red led on the esc will flash at the same time." Doing this again correct my problem hope it helps.Comment

Suggestion; buy a small timer and put in shirt pocket as I did and sure helps if runtime is in question. When buying lipos, buy a higher C rating which won't get as warm as lower C lipos.-----Some boaters think taping is a PITA, but it takes a minute to do for piece of mind.Comment

I went to lower my LVC the day after this happened and I accidently left my lipos pluged in. What you know to batteries with .75V in each cell. I was able to save one Nano Tec but the other just had one dead cell. When I would bump the voltage it would drop off as soon as I to my charger off. I ordered a new batttery. Just hasnt come yet, but when it does I will take the auto cell count off then try the LVC. Thanks for alll your help guys. Oh ya SOUTHWEST I would never run my boat without fully tapedComment

Premature LVC protection with the T-180 and it's variants has been a perennial problem and continues to be an issue oft discussed here. The likely explanation is that the LVC monitors peak voltages, and momentary downspikes (which are fairly normal in boats and by themselves are to be expected) are read as cause for protection rather than average voltage readings. Many T-180 users will disarm the LVC and time their runs to know when the batteries are reaching the low-capacity/voltage threshold. A little testing will allow this threshold to be found, then a run timer can be brought into play.
While not for everyone due to it's complexity, I've come to rely on the "Porkmaster 2000" (yes, I DO use this)

I would just turn off the low voltage protection and time runs. after awhile you'll know how the boat performs when the packs dump you'll see/hear it on the water. the seaking 180 is a really good esc and not just for the money, it outperforms most escs that cost a lot more. my friend and I have run this esc in a few 85mph cats (twins) no problems and they stay very cool.Comment
