I have had quite a lot of PMs about the picture of Miss Longlite in my avatar, asking for details and pictures etc. so I figured I would post a brief post.
First thing, this is a GAS boat so if you are offended stop right now.
Long story short, I have always loved the big European offshore boats and a few years ago decided to build a semiscale model of Victory 1, but couldn't find a hull that I liked so decided to build my own.
The original 50 inch hull was scratchbuilt from fibreglass and plywood and a mold was taken from this to produce the hull in fibreglass.
We call it the Eurocat.
In the picture below I am holding the original hull Drambuie on Ice and the first hull from the mold became my Victory 1.
The mold has recently been tidied up and the first boat following this is my current offshore race boat Miss Longlite.
Both Victory and Longlite have the optional transom extension which adds a further 4 inches to the over all length.
The Dubai Victory boats were all designed by Michael Peters ( yes an American) and many wind up being on sold to other teams so this hull can be painted to resemble many boats.
Because of its scale dimensions ( long hull but only 6 inch tunnel width ) it is a great rough water boat but has recorded 90 kph ( 55 mph) with a Quickdraw 25.
It is a very easy boat to drive and just goes where you point it so has managed to win many races in spite of my crappy driving.
Graham.
