i think i narrowed it down to the template. So what you see now is the default Vbulletin template.

I'm not keen on the new "Activity stream" in "What's new" compared to what it used to do and what most forums do, having the last posters name first instead of the thread title seems a little backwards to me. Whenever I visit I go straight to "What's new" and scan down the thread titles looking for either something that I am likely to be interested in or something that I may be able to help with. It doesn't really matter to me who the last poster was as I know I wont have read what they had to say already or it wouldn't be in "what's new".
