    Brushless ESC's

I am trying to find out what other types of esc's are available in the 100-300 amp range besides the Castle esc's.

Here are a couple, I know there are bunch more but I can't think of them off the top of my head.

Innovation, experience, outstanding parameters, original solutions, grasp on the detail, individual approach. All of this, coming with MGM COMPRO.

I like this one and have 2 of them
Not bad for $62.50 but you have to waterproof them

Everyone,,,,please take the amp ratings on all of the E-Bay and other "inexpensive" controllers with a rather large "grain of salt".

There is a reason they are inexpensive........................... Find out at your own expense.

E-Bay amp ratings on controllers are a lot like E-Bay speed claims on boats,,,,,,,,,,,lies at best!

fully agree Doby! some are far from able to deliver the amp rating they are given for!
I can only talk about the Mystery80 I have that really works fine!... 76amp up to now!

Yes you will have to figure out if the rating is good
But the only way to tell how far is too far is when you get there and I know I would rather find this out on a $62.50 unit than on a $700 one :)

On the 200 amp unit I have I had everything hooked up with 18 4200nimh cells
I had moved one of the 6 cells pack back some in the boat and the bar on the end of the pack was bare
It was touching the can of the motor and when I made the last connection something sounded different (this esc plays musical notes when hooked up until reciever is turned on) It took me about 10 seconds to figure out what was wrong I had a dead short through the esc and motor to the battery . By the time I got every thing apart and out of the boat I had melted the battery bars off of two packs and 30 seconds later with the packs on the ground one cell completly blew up

I do not know how many amps this would take to do but now I am running 6S2P lipos through it getting 50 mph in a 36" hydroplane

I was sure I was going to need a new esc

The Schultze 140/60 is a race proven ESC and is underrated as far as specs go, as are most European ESC's The E-Bay Esc's are in most cases, dubious in their spec ratings. I would half the amp rating for these ESC's to be on the safe side or live with replacing your ESC, smelly boat or burnt hull. You truly get what you pay for, but there are some gems to be had, for a reasonable cost. Review other peoples experiences on similar setups, who provide amp draw, voltage and temperature.
Also note the ability of costly ESC's to take medium throttle control and the linear smooth response, which can be programmed

I've heard good things about the ETTI's as a matter of fact Bill Oxidean has a SAW record with one the ETTI Marine 100 amp version...51.7mph N-2 offshore

Im going to go with some hobbycity escs. I have never used them before
but people generally say they do well but they are a bit over rated for what they can handle.

                          esc

I think Steve tested the mystery 200 to see what the constant amp draw in the real world was and I think he said around 125 amps constant before temps got up there. If that is the case I would like to try one for the money and maybe Steve will add it to his fleet if there is enough interest ?

I think Steve tested the 200 Danlions Bugzilla...not sure if he will bring them over or not.
ETTIs are good ESCs, there are a few other ones that are in the high end of the spectrum:

Ub I havent tested the Danlions 200 yet. I have received the specs from the original manufacturer and can say they seem very beefy. The boards are quite large to truly handle the heat of 200amps. The problem with them is the cost. I would have to retail them in the three hundred range which gets them close to the cost of a Hydra 180hv(about $80 more). If it was half the cost I would go for it. But for $80 I think the castle is worth the extra support and US warranty.
