    the difference between two boats

I have a question that's been making me scratch my head for the past two summers. My son and I run two whip 20 set up as p-spec and after went through my third motor I wonder why his boat has always run more efficient. He runs a x545 and comes in cooler and with 5-10% more battery then me running an X445.We even
tried using the cnc aluminum props still he comes back about 20-30 degrees cooler. On any given run my motor will be @155 and his @ 110.I tried to take some measurements of our boats mine sponson AOA L back 2.9 degrees front 2.9 right 2.6 front 3.2 sponson depth left .478 right .471 boat weight less battery 4lbs 9.5 oz. His boat sponson AOA L 2.8 front 3.0 right 3.3 front 3.0 sponson depth left .510 right .469 weight 4lbs 9.6 oz. the funny thing my shaft ligns up better and feel smoother. Like I said makes me scratch my head.i attached my last eagle tree run using an X545.Eagle Tree Log.jpg

    What ESCs are you using?
    Have you tried swapping controllers?
Are the struts set about the same?
Do you both leave a gap between the drive dog and the strut?
What packs are you both running?

I'm sorry I should have said that He uses the UL1 esc his strut is set at .733 to the bottom and mine is .740 we both use speedmaster flat bottom struts. Yes there is a gap at least the width of the 3/16 cable. We are using nano 4500 mah packs the funny thing we have 2 new dinogy 65c 5000mah pack whitch seem to be the only time he runs hot is with them.I use a seaking 120 esc but I get the same results using the UL1 esc.

Do the boats have the same speed? Different timing could account for the temperature difference. Put everything - your motor, Seaking, prop, packs - in your son's boat and see what happens. If his still runs fine then the problem is somewhere in your boat's setup.

Not funny at all - the motor runs hotter because the Dinogys are far better cells and deliver more power faster.

Hey Fluid Thanks for the replies I thought with the higher c rating it would run cooler. But I can see if it can supply more power running hotter makes sense. I am sure its in my hull even though looking at it I think it should be the over way around. Seeing how things like my shaft is straighter and slides in easier. The only thing I can say is my boat doesn't leak like his LOL.I told him he runs cooler from all the water inside the hull cooling it.
