For those of you that don't know, do not hit the throttle if there is any chance you have water in the boat. Also, if your motor turns on when you turn remote off, be aware of it. Many peoe turn remote off when retrieving.
The best way for boat retreival

Here is my Stiletto rescue rig. It served it's purpose for a while, but if you drive far out, it's tough to line up for retrieval. Also, if you cross over the boat, the prop hacks it. Finally, After repeated attempts to line up and retrieve my whiplash pretty far out, I lost signal or something and now I had TWO boats dead in the water, blowing WAY away from my spot. After driving around the pond and getting in to another area with permission of a security gaurd, I swam to the close boat(75') and brought it back, then swam what had to be close to 100 yards to get the Whiplash, which to top it off, was running slowly in reverse away from me. I am a very good swimmer, and I find the water refreshing and all, but this was BAD(and a bit dangerous).
The following day I bought a 7' kayak and paddle on sale at Dick's for $234 and never looked back. The kayak was one of the best purchases I've made, along with the water shoes my GF got me. The kayak(28 lbs.) holds some of my gear in the garage, and just slides right in the bed of my truck and hooks to a tie down.My private off road rc track

Good point. I have yet to have an issue with 2.4 and/or brushless setups, but I have had some 75mhz/brushed setups that would go nuts when the esc got wet or the radio was turned off. Even so, I do not go near the prop until the batteries are disconnected!!My favorite search engine http://google.comComment

With all due respect to all of you, and as a joke ---actually for me it isn't, the best retrieval system is the WIND!
Each time my boat flips, I just look at my watch and wait for that magical 15 min. The boat comes back in front of my legs.
My near sighted eyes would not allow me to align the fork and one time because of that my rescue boat needed rescued, fortunately wind is not prejudice: it bought both in!Too many boats, not enough time...Comment

When it's working in your favor, it's great. But after a bad flip, the less time it spends upside down the less water can make it's way in, or the less fire damage from the smoldering ESC that just cooked, or whatever else went wrong. Where I run, only 2 spots have public access, and it's a big pond, wind is my enemy sometimes......... I think because of my sight, what I need is a kayak---first I need to take lessons of kayaking though. The list of need to do is so long...

This thread is supposed to be the "best" way to retrieve. With all due respect, the best way is the kayak. Sure, there are plenty of successful rescue rigs, but they can and do fail. Reality is, a kayak is foolproof, unless you're a complete moron and can't operate one, in which case you need a labotomy. I'll have my boat back before the guy with the rescue rig even knows what happened.
I'm 100% with Kevin. We used his kayak several times last Saturday.
It's surprises me how much people will put into an Rc boat, then try to use a fishing rod or some shim sham contraption to get it back.Comment
