    Jae 21fe

Would a 1515 fit in a jae 21fe with a water cooling jacket on it or is the fit just too tight? Thinking of building a ballistic one on 4s with a 1515 or 1415 1.5d spinning a 1440-1445 cut down to 42mm using a cc ice 240. I know, it's sad because I just finished my 10s gas jae rigger and I'm already ready to have a go at another build...

Here is mine with a CC1515 2200, T-180 on 5s batteries spinning a 1450 prop from zipp kits. Tub has been widen to 4 inches.
First time in water it went 69 mph.

So would it only fit if I widened the tub? Want to see if I could get 75-80 out of one...

A guy I run with has a 1415 in his with stock tub. I also have a stock one going with a Ul-1 motor in it. I have seen posts of people putting a 1515 in stock tub it is a tight fit.

I used to run a JAE.21FE in Hydro2 with a 1415/1.5d/s, and it just fit in the stock position snugly with a Lehner type jacket, a HRC jacket would have required some hull mods (re drilling holes and cutting out the triangular gussets between the floor and sides locally to get the motor mount in backwards or making an alternative motor mount, and a hatch with a bulge) I never really looked at getting a 1515 in there but it would need the aforementioned mods at least, if it actually fitted. I later moved the motor up front and ran a wire drive back, due to the lower angle of the motor it creates a little more room and it fitted with space around it up there.

I never had the need for a lifting prop, whether I ran the ski or not, an N940 was my favourite prop for fun running but I couldn't get 5 minutes runtime with any stock diameter 3/16 octura prop on a 560g 4s 5800mAh pack for racing, and ended up cutting the N down to 33mm without much speed loss, the only time I tried a bigger prop than 40mm was a V942 for SAWs and it was much faster, though it was obvious that it needed some lift taking out of it, and I snapped the 1.6mm wire (race boat at the SAWs not a SAWs boat) so didn't complete the run and get a speed.

          I now run a Leopard 3674/2y 1700kv on 560g 6s 4500mAh with a x438 cut down to 35mm.

Mike Luszcz of ML Boatworks scanned and cut me a custom width JAE FE. The Tub is 1/2" wider than stock. I also built the sponsons 1/4" wider than stock. Getting the motor and steering servo configured was a bit of a chore but I'm able to fit up to a 1521 in there. The extra width also allows a Thunderpower 4S 6600 pack between behind the rear boom tubes. The end result is a bad ass little heat racer. The H7 works well with a variety of motors in the JAE.

Ok so if I'm going to go with a standard hull ill likely be better off going with a 1415 as far as I can tell, i will be going with the 1.5d 2700kv motor though and keeping the props in the 40-43mm range running a cc ice 240, should seriously scoot!

Sounds like a lot of prop, don't want to burn anything up.

I have been running this combo in a Raptor since 2010 and a Jae since 2012 with no failures.... Even a second place finish at the 2011 Nationals.

Well got the 10s jae out finally, it ran 77.8 and is pulling super hard to the right, so much so that it is causing the boat to run completely crooked when I try to run it straight and it's the turn fun causing it, it's pulling the right sponson down into the water HARD so ill have to kick it forward and try it again. Still ran 77.8 for its first time out! Way more left in it!!!

I too am building a jae fe an am looking into this combo. What kind of speed are we looking at here with a 40-43mm prop. I want a "for fun" boat that has crazy speed. So I'm interested in specs and or info on what size packs I can squeze into this thing
