Any interest? Hatch tape peeling paint I have the solution.....

So I was wondering if there would be any interest in a clear vinyl to go over the area where the hatch tape pulls some peoples paint off.

Material is a 1/2" gloss vinyl. Price would be in the $1 per foot range.
1 piece on the boat and 1 piece on the hatch then no more peeling paint!!

If this is something people would want let me know.

I did this a few years ago on a hull. I traced the hatch and took it to a local vinyl shop and had them cut it out 3/4" wider in both directions of the template and then installed it on the boat and cut the hatch back out. Worked perfect. Itd be nice to collect templates Jeff, and be able to make them like that for several hulls, to fit curving for example on the PB cats, the 45 degree chamfers some hulls have at corners etc etc so thers not multiple pieces or splices along the protectant.... unless your stuff flexes enough to bend corners, but then again, those 45s might be difficult.. for example on the Cheetah. Just my .02. Great offering tho.

Jeff, may I ask you is this a vinyl tape that one tapes down and just leave it there and the hatch tape then is taped over it? How strong then is the adhesive on this tape? I assume it stays on and won't peel as one peels away the hatch tape?
            Thanks!

Just realized that I did not respond to this.
Yes it is a vinyl that you would leave down and tape over.
The adhesive will not come off from typical hatch tapes we use.
it is a permanent adhesive but could be removed with heat if you wanted to but would most likely pull the paint that it was attached to.
We use this material for sealing edges on full size boat wraps to seal down the bottom edge where it meets the waterline.
It can also be stretched a little to go around curves or contours.

I thought it is like a roll of tape, Jeff, I will have to get to my boats and measure, perhaps by Thursday, ( some of them are stored at my Mom's house since I am running out of space).
Sorry about the lame situation here.
                      Thanks ,Tim

It is a roll of vinyl. 1/2" thick. I can cut it down to whatever size you'd want.
Give me an idea how much you need and we can work out a suitable price.

Half inch wide? Correct? Is it possible to get larger sheets. Instead of having to lay down half inch strips, which would have seams on all four corners, it would be nice to have one piece. Think of a Picture Frame. I will be having a very expensive air brush paint job put on a brand new Carbon Fiber Raptor I just received from Brian and a new PT that is on it's way. This pealing paint thing has been on my mind. I have an appointment with the painter next week, just to discuss what type of primer he needs for a base so his artwork doesn't peel off. Thats what's so cool about OSE. You guys are always coming up with great ideas. What hatch tape performs well on the vinyl?
I will Order the tape if that's my only option. Ok to PM me so I can place an order.
                          Thanks, Allen

Yes it's half inch wide the stuff I am referring to but I can make it in any size.
I could send you an entire sheet to cover the top of the boat.
If paint and clear are done correctly there should be no issues with peeling paint!
As for hatch tape that works with the material anything should work just fine that we use.
Removable clear tape will not pull this stuff off.
It is a permanent clear gloss adhesive.

Hi Jeff, I did not have a chance to see exactly how much I need, sorry, hopefully in the next week or so. Tomorrow is the SAW event at Legg Lake here in So. CAL and I will not be home for two or three days. I am just hanging out , not racing .
                              Thanks
