    thunder tiger outlaw jr

Hi there, has anyone heard of a motor/speed control problem with the Thunder Tiger Outlaw Jr? It's all stock including prop, motor and all electrics. First the speed control packed it in (told a factory flaw) but it still worked off and on, we took it back to hobby shop and told it would be ok to run until a replacement s/c came in. Well it worked for about 5 minutes and the motors wiring melted, big time!! lucky the boat didn't catch fire. We have now been waiting for warranty replacements for 3 weeks , I'm thinking maybe the motor and speed control have factory flaws in the first place and would like to upgraded replacements. Has anyone got any ideas?
    We are using two 2000mhn battery's, 25C, 7.4 v, 2S.
My son and I are new to the hobby we had A/Q Mono mini's but they were a little slow and to hard to see. My son bought the Outlaw and I bought a A/Q UL1 hydro which has been running great and having fun working on setup.
    ????
    Thanks Rod:confused2

Yes I have one and the motor didn't last long. Only ran it on 3s a hand full of times. I gutted the boat carbon fibered the inside installed ul 1 electronics and some new hardware and it's a screaming little boat. Was a fair amount of work and cost a couple hundred to do but was my first boat build and I'm very pleased with what I have now.I have had good luck with the rtr boats from proboat and A/Q though.
I do have a good factory esc if you need one. Are you using those batteries together in parallel or in series?

had one a time ago ,thought it would be great for the sons of my girlfriend
speedo can handle 4s motor can not with the stock prop, tried it and it blew up
it is stated clearly in the manual not to use 4s!!

throw out the box for the esc/lipo/servo and receiver
      relocate about everything inside
buy a 4mm axle with M4 tread so you can change to different props
      put in a leopard 2860 2910 Kv on 3s
      use a 37.5mm graupner k-prop or 38mm cnc tenshock

and throw off the trimtabs, put on turnfins

handles beautifull, speed 60 to 65km/h ( 65 with the 38 mm tenshock cnc prop)

lots off work but is was fun and paid off
and :check the hull !! (ours was a rocker)

must say that it handled rather well without the turnfins ,mounted them because the guy's asked why their boat did not have any and every body else was

it was only a slight improvement, for me the boat was ok without them

            maybe a better photo:
it needed trimtabs close to the keel once the boat hit 60km/h to stop the chinewalking, below 60 it did not need them
            used only a 3300 or 4000 3s mah,boat was very light
chinewalking would probably stopped if using heavier lipo's so more boat stayed in the water at full speed
