Pro Boat Impulse 31 V2 or Aquacraft Revolt 30?

I have a lot of experience with RC cars, trucks, and crawlers, but little with boats. I'm planning to buy my first FE this month. I think a 30-ish-inch deep-V is the right hull type for my application. Based on my reading, I've narrowed by choices down to the Pro Boat Impulse 31 V2 and Aquacraft Revolt 30.

The Impulse comes with 12-gauge wiring and an 80-amp ESC, while the Revolt has 14-gauge wiring and a 60-amp ESC. I also like the single color option for the Impulse better than any of the 4 offered for the Revolt. On the other hand, the Revolt is a little cheaper even as an RTR, and it can be had as an ARTR (RX-R), which I like. It's not clear to me if which one has a better hull design or if one is built better than the other.

You can't go wrong with either design. Note, the aq60a ESC is an underated workhorse and many people (including me) use them in p-spec racing hydros, so don't put much weight on the ESC amp difference between the 2.

I'm new to the hobby and don't know a lot about components, etc but I bought the Revolt 30 and my neighbor the Impulse 31. Out of the box the Revolt will out handle and out run the Impulse.

The revolt comes stock with a really nice grim 42x55 prop. The impulse comes alive if you upgrade to an octura x642 (or the grim prop).

I like the Revolt. I haven't driven an Impulse to compare though. When I was purchasing, the battle was between these two boats. The Spartan is a wet POS, i'm glad you're not considering that boat. I like the looks of the Revolt hull better, but the canopy on the Impulse more. What eventually sold me was the bad ass Grimracer hardware and prop on the Revolt. It also seems that out of the box, the Revolt will run circles around the Impulse. But who leaves it box stock? :)

Can anyone compare these two kits to the Pursuit mono kits offered by OSE? The OSE Pursuit kit clearly comes with higher-quality electronics, but how do the hulls compare?

Hi,
I have not seen the pursuit hull personally, but Steve's only does custom packages with really good stuff. I would be pretty confident that hull is very good.

The Pursuit is configured with a 2200kv motor which at 4S is 32.5K RPM (with an appropriate ESC to handle the load). To hit 32-33K RPM on the impulse or revolt's 1800kv motor (the motors will handle it fine), you would run at 5S, and need to upgrade the ESC to the one in the pursuit.

Note, I would not characterize the electronics difference as a "quality" difference-- the proboat and AQ motors and ESCs are very solid at the power levels they are designed to run (and are also frequently used in custom p-limited and 1/10 scale setups). The components on the pursuit are a higher RPM setup on 4S so will be faster than stock impulse/revolt.

If $$ is not a concern, my favorite 29-32" mono hulls are the toysport syncron and triton hulls, with integrated flood chambers which turn the boat over when it capsizes. They are built like tanks, but the hull + HW (no electronics) is $600+ so they are pricey. (OSE has these too).

I have the proboat impulse 31 v2 and its a quality boat, no issue With it at all and i have run it a lot this summer.

Just remember to tight all screews and add grease to the flex shaft before run.
The proboat is realy fast on 6s! Also fast enough on 5s.
When it was new i only run it on 4s, and a few times on 5s and now i only run it on 6s, the boat is Stock. The only problem i see is the motor Connectors is dam hot after run, but its cool down after only 1 minutes after run. Its dam fast and if you adjust it Perfect you got an stabile boat. I will recomand 5s if you want to stay on the safe side but i never got an issue yet when i use 6s and i know about other people that also always run it on 6s.
Its also waterproof after run if you remember to greas the flex and use tape on the Hatch every time you run it.

I think you going to be happy after buying this boat. My tip is to buy it and run it on 5s a lot before you do any more with it.
I have never see or try the revolt.

man thats cheap. Have heard nothing but praise with the Revolt. My first upgrade would be some nice bullet connectors for everything.

Man that is a great deal. One recommendation though - I wouldn't drive the boat using the stock flex shaft. Upgrade it before you even splash the boat. It's better than losing a prop, or sinking the boat. The stock flex shaft is my only complaint about the Revolt and I love everything else about it.

Only run the stock flexshaft if you are willing to lose your prop or possibly sink the boat. The shaft is a known problem and while Aquacraft is doing a fantastic job to fix it (they are sending me a new prop and hardware from mine breaking on its 3rd run) the parts are a couple weeks out yet. Put a good shaft in it and grease it often, and you'll have an excellent, trouble free RTR boat.

The Revolt is so bad ass looking that most people won't believe its RTR.
