Impulse 31 Setup advice

Hello. New to the site and getting more into boats. For an Impulse 31 I am curious as to what some of you would recommend as a complete setup to run. I run strictly in a pretty good sized retention pond behind my house for fun sometimes with a buddy of mine. I would like 50+ mph, don't think that's too much to ask for. Pond is clear of debris and is almost always like glass. Thanks in advance to all of you.

What prop are you running and is the motor & esc stock?
if stock, try a m445 prop s&b.
if you up grade, go with a 180 esc and try a 1500kv motor 3674 can size and run 5-6s 40c batterys.
this should get you into the 50s-maybe even close to 60 but always check your temps after a short run only 1-2 laps, then play with your strut height and trim tabs also your cg.

G-Unit, I appreciate you taking the time to reply. I guess I should have been more specific so I really appreciate you covering a lot. I was needing complete as it's just hull and hardware with no prop, batteries, esc or motor. So if going with the upgrade motor/esc you are suggesting does that still ring true with a M445 s&b prop?

What version do you have? I have the first version and run 35mph stock. Looking to upgrade esc and motor in the future but for now, that's pretty fast for me. I was reading your post and it's funny. I also live in Florida and have a large retention pond in my back yard where I run my boat. Nice to have a private pond where you don't have to pack up and drive somewhere to run your boat

I have the first version. I have never ran it as it was acquired as a hull and hardware. I am still trying to get a grasp of the whole setup things with boats.....I guess if I'm lucky one day I will at least partly understand. Yes, It is very nice just to be able to drop the boat right outside the back fence and go with it that's for sure.

rdfun, Yes the m445 prop works great, just remember if you run more the 4s you should keep kv low, like 1500-1600.
invest in a t180 or s180 esc, I have had good luck with them.
if you go with a 2200kv motor you can use a t120 esc, but try a smaller prop like a m442 then check temps, if the temps are low and everything feels cool to just warm then you can go to the m445.
where in florida are you? I'm in sanford and have a nice lake just out my back door.

This is my first FAST boat. The one I had before did about 15 or 20mph. When I got this one, it was like lightning. I would like to get it into the 40's without doing too much to it. Maybe another prop...I've been flying rc planes and helicopters for about 10 years. With a pond right outside my door, don't know why I haven't done this sooner...

You should be able to get into the high 30s and even hit 40s with just a prop change and strut, trim tab adj also cg.
observe how the boat planes out and try and set it up so you are riding on the pad ( about 5-6", not riding wet but not real dry.) does this make any sence.

Yep.
Been playing around with all those areas. I guess the goal is to get the most amount of boat out of the water without it being unstable. It's a lot of fun just trying out new adjustments and seeing what happens...
