Dumas 1234 1940 Barrel Back 28.5" brushless upgrade?

    Hello all-

New RC boater here. I had a boat when I was younger and loved it, and eventually a Miss Budweiser that was a riot. I am a disabled RC enthusiast that really gets a kick out of building models, but just couldn't wrap my mind around building a Dumas kit, so I found a beautiful kit that was already built and converted to RC. It is being shipped tomorrow I am very excited.

With all my Multicopters/planes/cars I run brushless/3s lipo setups. I would like to upgrade this boat to do the same, and if I can to make her a sleeper

I typically run Castle creations setups with cars and know they make great boat stuff as well.
What sort of size motor and KV would I want to start out with on this boat. I know I can't make her a full blown speedboat, I just want to be able to use my 3s batteries or maybe even 4s? I'd obviously prefer not to drill holes in the hull for watercooling so I was hoping to keep temps down with air.

I plan on adding a RAM bilge system as well. I know nothing about props as well so I'd have to address that if I change the setup.

I will run the boat first to see how the speed is obviously before doing anything..

    Here she is:

Thanks for the advice and comments all!

I saw this video of a 1940 Dumas kit running brushless and hauling the mail and was inspired!

Here's a friend's Chris Craft scaler with the stock brushed setup. The vid you posted above looks like it was doing well with more power. Maybe others can suggest a nice brushless upgrade. Keep in mind that you'll need to get a motor shaft - to - driveshaft coupler that fits both ends.

Always thought it would be cool to race classic dumas kits like that one.

          very cool man!
I think a simple Proboat 1500kv motor with smallish prop on 4s would be very nice
