    Can you guys help me match my colors for the wires on my ESC?

    I run a left hand turn prop and I just got this leopard 1600k. I want to cut my wires to a certain length to have a clean install but I have no way to test the connections. I thought someone can help me match the colors up so I can keep this project moving. I just barely have enough time to put it in. Thanks!!!

    Doesn't matter. Hook them up any way, if the motor spins in the wrong direction, just swap any two wires :).

      Also, DO NOT cut the motor leads, cut the wires on the ESC.

        Colours won't matter do as kwiktsi said cut esc not motor wires solder your bullets on then hook together and give it a test. If the motor spins backwards just swap any to wires

          I understand the process of elimination when it comes to getting the right rotation. I really want to know for sure because the I will be cutting the wires staggered based on how close the wires are to the motor. If that makes sense? If I cut the wrong wire and have to swap it it might be to short! I want my esc wires as short as possible and keep the wires neat over the ESC. Like on my old motor I had them to long but yet they were to short to fold them. I had to zip tie them down so I could put my hatch on. Oya I thought everyone knew not to cut the motor wire

            Then hook them up to see which way they should be, make a note of which goes where and cut them :). As for the motor wires, you never know, so had to put that out there.

              I am pretty sure, (but not absolutely..) that it is a BAD idea to have different wire lengths from ESC to motor, If I'm wrong somebody will chime in without a doubt.
              Would think it has something to do with pulse, frequency or whatever. To be honest just a gut feeling but let the real sparky's chime in !

                I pretty much made them all the same leght anyway. I have one wire that is about a 1/4" longer but I guess Ill find out. Thanks for the imput. I really didnt think of that!!

                  Electrons travel at the speed of light (186K miles per second). Unless the wire length differences are very extreme, I doubt that a probable maximum of 1500 pulses per second (30K rpm) will get far out of synch. I have heard that at least one manufacturer warns against differences in wire length, but haven't heard a reasonable explanation of their causes for concern.

                    I beleive it is because with a sensorless motor esc, the esc reads the rotor's position/rpm by the voltage induced in the wires that are not currently firing at the time, and it bases the timing off of this. Theoretically, different lengths could throw off the sensed timing a little. With a sensored motor, it reads with seperate sensors and always knows the exact position of the rotor. You don't notice it in boats much, but the difference is more apparent in cars, as an unsensored setup will cog a little on startup as the esc "finds" the rotor, where a sensored motor/esc will roll smooth as butter at slow speeds.
                    All in all, an inch difference in wire length would probably still not be enough to make any difference anyway, just wanted to share my understanding on the subject.
