    New Lipo fast charge??

Anybody have any experience with the new FMA Direct cellpro 10s?? Theyre claiming it safely charges up to 10 cells at 3c! Yielding approximate 20 min. charges?
Yes its fast, yes it will go far away, yes its expensive. No you cant try it.

I have not seen it, but beware of some of those ratings. Ask them what MAH pack it will charge at 3c.

can any one explain why we cant charge the lipos at more than the 1C rating?

I noticed that Hyperion brand Lipos can be charged at 2C. (atleast thats what it says in my charger manual) whats the difference?

I use 2, FMA 6S chargers with no problems at 2C. I charges 2 packs at a time on each charger, wired in parallel with custom harnesses.

I use 2 of the FMA cellpro 4S chargers as well as the 10S.
          I love them both.
Recently I've been running 4 classes per race day and only using the 10S, charging regularly @ 3C. I use 4500 and 4900 mah packs and my packs are easily charged by the time I need them.

Charge rate has to do with the actual cell chemistry on physical construction. Lipos are best charged at 1C. Above that and you begin to significantly shorten their life span. For instance, Pat at RC Lipos has done some testing and his results show up to a 40% loss of useful life at repeated charge rates above 1C.

Plus if you are not using the right charger, etc. it can be dangerous.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should!

I charge at 1C. I use a Hyperion DUO and use nothing but PolyRC packs made up of Enerland cells. Packs cost too much money to shorten their life by charging too quickly.

I personally wouldn't charge @ over 1C with any other charger, but after using the 4S chargers all of last year, I see no drop in performance with any of my packs...granted, the 4S's don't charge at 3C (I think later ones might, but mine don't), but I am monitoring for any losses...so far, so good.

I believe what helps alleviate that performance loss with the Cellpro's is that the last 10% of the charge is always a balance charge.

From what ive read, they claim this thing does a ton of real time diagnostics on each cell and will adjust the charge rate accordingly. Some of my helicopter buddies have been using it this week and they claim that its working flawlessly. Im a little weary, but want to check it out. I think we are getting one at my shop as a product evaluation. ( big perk of working at one of the nations largest shops!!!)
