I have this esc in a traxxas spartan and it doesn't run for too long before completely shutting off and I've been informed that it may be thermaling like not being able to handle the instant amp draw and was wondering if this can be fixed to where maybe it just shuts off to half power so I can bring it back in besides swimming after it every time? But the bigger question is now it won't even work so is this esc just a lemon aka known for being junk or can anyone maybe tell me why it's not working maybe some sort of troubleshooting thanks greatly appreciated

What is your set up...batt,prop ,motor? When you know it all.......you never will learn anything newComment

You could program it to soft cut-off so you can get it back to shore but, let it cool out there for a tad first! I finally cooked my AS240... messy.Nortavlag Bulc

Okay sorry for the late response but the motor is a castle 1515-1y 2200 kv with the as240 on 6s I thought maybe it was the on off switch so I took it off and twisted the wires and it still doesn't make a sound or anything the servo works and that's it its just deadComment

Ya I,d be willing to be its toast. That's a very high rpm set up. Very easy to over amp something at those kind of revs. my SF esc just went and it was very similar. No poof no smoke no sign it was toast until I opened it up and used a magnifying glass. Saw a tiny black burn mark. When I looked really close I could see tiny melted spots on the fets.Comment

You have a few options. You can keep that motor and get an esc that is rated for higher current, but be aware that that set up is going to have very little margin for error as far as prop choice and hull set up go. It can be done but you need to be prepared to be very patient and start off with a smaller prop and be constantly checking temps etc until you are sure things are ok. Its safer to go with a lower kv motor but if your looking for 70 mph im not sure that option is going to get you there any easier because youd need to be swinging a pretty huge prop and thus pulling huge amps.Comment
