Upgrade motor from stock genesis motor

New to the rc boating. I bought 29 blackjack, then bought a genesis from hobby king. i like the genesis better but I want to upgrade the stock motor that came with it. I will be running 4s. I have the turnigy 180amp esc. Boat runs really well but looking for a little more speed. I have some Tekin T8 motors laying around from my buggys and truggys. Has anyone used a T8 motor on there boat before? Or what is a good upgrade from the motor that the genesis comes with? I am running a octura x640 prop also. Prop suggestions also.

Do a search on this site for the genesis, there is a lot of threads as well as pictures of peoples upgrades etc.
the easiest upgrade is to shove in a Leopard 4074 2000kv and stay on 4S, that will be cheap , and go fast.
the hobbyking immitation motor seems just as good to me

My friend had set up his Genesis boat in upgrade.
      RIMG0638.jpgRIMG0687.jpg
He had chosed the 4074/KV2200 motors,180A ESC 4.76*43 CNC propellers. In fact after upgrade, the boat run well.

how about the leopard 4074 2200kv? and run on 4s. just looking for a little more speed when i want it. 4s is good for me to run cause i can use my 2s car batteries i already have. What about props ? is that x640 good for the stock motor? or the 4074 2200kv? or can i get more prop? thanks

I run a neu 1515 1y 2200kv in mine (about the same size as the leopard)
          Running a 442 gives low 50s. Going to try a 640 and 642

Here is the information of the upgrade.
              Upgrade Genesis.jpg

For the tested the speed was 86.3 Km / h. And they used 4S batteries.
About "x640", if it is 2blade, he suggested that you can try,but if it is 3blade, he said maybe is too strong for the stock motor.

it is a two blade, and this is a single motor set up.

What are you trying to say? I don't think he is looking for a 100MPH setup. It does not take twin motors to make this hull run well.

Just to say my friend had Upgraded his Dual Motor Genesis Boat!
About Genesis Boat Series, there are 37'' single motor configuration, 37'' dual motor configuration,1.42 meter dual motor configuration,1.3 meter dual motor configuration! According to I knew, most buyers will take the 37'' dual motor to upgrade!
If some thing I made mistake, pardon me!

Be cautious with the car batteries, the hard packs have the little baby size bullet connectors, or small wires. I toasted an ESC trying the same thing myself with a 1515 motor (2200kv) with batteries in series to make 4s.

well i ordered a leopard 4074 2200kv, 3/16 drive line, the strut is out of stock right now, hopefully they will get it in soon. Will be running this on 4s with turnigy a-spec 2s 6600mah 65-130c boat packs and 5s with turnigy nano-tech 5s 4000mah.
