Thanks, I have already placed an order for additional carbon trays to help extend back the CG. I will try heating up the resin to see if I can remove the pickups in one piece and then try single feed cooling.

I've had good luck using a soldering iron with a dab of solder to heat the tube. Then the tube comes out pretty easily. Area heating can lead to hull warpage.

Using a soldering iron works very well indeed when removing any metal parts that are bonded with epoxy, keeps the heat localized so you get no warping in hulls.

Today with Mike aka Savage Skidoo's help removed the water pickups using the soldering iron technique. no damage, no drama....
Used the west system epoxy and micro balloons to fill the holes. A bit of light sanding and she will be as good as new.
Next step to install the CF trays once arrived to help pull the batteries back.
Thanks all for the tips and feed backs. I will keep you in the loop if any progress is made.

A little late to the game, but I agree- too wet. I am willing to bet those packs will want to be much closer to the transom based on my experience with the few cats I have owned. I am running the 4082 1600 on 6S in a Pursuit hull and while I have not GPS'd it yet, it is MUCH faster than 45-47 :). It ran 45ish with a Feigao 12XL on 6S and the speed difference with the 4082 is night and day. I wouldn't doubt the boat is easily upper 50's going by eye comparing it with my other boats which have been GPS'd. Hope you get it situated, that thing should be a rocket!

Thanks Joe. I have seen how fast Cats can go and mine ain't one yet, but hopefully with some work she will get there.

Yeah, she's gonna fly. My BK Bandit S GPS'd at 53 IIRC with an 8XL on 4S and X440 prop- you'll have almost 5000 more unloaded RPM plus much more power under load so it will hold RPM and spin a bigger prop as well. I believe I am running an X447 on my Pursuit. I'm curious how it runs when situated, like I said- it's gonna be a rocket! You really want insanity, I have put 8S to my Pursuit a couple of times with this motor- it spends more time in the air than the water!

Edit- just realized- that is my Bandit in my avatar. That is what happens if you hit the throttle too hard from a stop.

Personally I don't think the major issue is your COG. Your placement looks pretty close to where mine is, and I can shift the packs forward without losing too much speed, it just changes the handling, especially turning/hooking. I actually have to run cog a bit forward to prevent blowing over backwards when it gets up over 60 mph. My gut is leaning toward the strut setting and prop, or possibly even Electronics. Have you calibrated the esc? What timing are you running? I am curious to see if eliminating the pickups helps, as I haven't used any like that. FWIW my DF Explorer runs with just the single rudder pickup, but I did intend to add a flush sponson pickup as I was running pretty hot. I also rigged an offset rudder for mine which helped with turning quite a bit, and probably with speed also. If you don't get the improvement with your current changes, I'd drop the stut down a bit at a time, but try to keep the angle at least neutral, maybe even a touch positive......

Post #6 shows my initial setup with (2) 3s 5000mah, with (2) 6s I run them basically all the way back on the trays, which seem to still be farther forward than what you have.

You know, now that you mention it, the COG affects handling more than speed on my BK as well. I just assumed that since his speeds were so far off what they should be that it was a contributing factor. Good call on the ESC calibration as well, I just ran into that with the swordfish on my Pursuit. My last several ESC's were auto throttle calibration and the swordfish was not. Couldn't figure out why my boat was so much slower with that ESC over my Mystery backup ESC.
