    Speedmaster strut dimensions

I am wondering if anyone knows the dimensions of the Speedmaster 21 strut sold here at OSE?

I am looking to try a new one as my old one is leaking bad (different make of one) and I'm thinking that the longer bushing in this strut may help to reduce the water getting in.

I do believe that the Mounting pad is 1" tall by 1.25" wide.

Can you post a pic of your HW setup? Maybe we can help you figure out the leak. Are you running the Teflon liner?

I was actually hoping to use the same mounting bracket I currently have (Fullers short super strut bracket), and mount the speedmaster strut to it.

I am running a Hughey Flex Shaft (.150 flex x 3/16ths shaft) inside a teflon tube and a fullers 1 7/8" super strut. I have a shrink tube around the end of the brass stuffing tube and nose of the strut, use grease all up the cable, fuel tube over the end of the stuffing tube so it rests on the flex shaft in the hull. Not a lot of water gets in, but enough that it soaks the piece of paper towel I have around the stuffing tube to catch to water that comes it. There is not enough that it pools in the bottom of the boat, in fact it seems to spray around without the paper towel instead of just dripping below the coupler. I guess this is because the flex shaft throws it out as it comes into the hull.

I think it may be just that there isn't enough bearing surface with the lead insert to stop the water travelling up the teflon liner, thats why I was thinking the speedmaster might be better. It doesn't do it at 1/2 throttle and below, just when its running 3/4 and up.

Sounds like you have a pretty good handle on the issue. I wish I could tell you one way or the other if the strut will fit your bracket.

I was actually just looking for the actual dimensions if anyone knows (width, height, etc.). I'm pretty sure it will fit the bracket OK.
