Picked up a hull but its missing the hatch

Traded a guy yesterday for rc trucks and saw this in the truck of his car, asked what he was doing with it and he said nothing since hes not into boats so he handed it over to me.

I am at a loss to what the hull is and where to find a hatch for it, it has some scratches and scuffs but no real damage so id like to get it back running, figured worse comes the worse I can make a plexiglass hatch.


Anyone on here shed any light as to what this is?

check the seams around the deck cause it might of split somewhere with that expandable foam

Aren't the hulls from R2 TFL hulls? If so I'm sure TFL would be able to set you up with a new hatch, they seem to be really interested in promoting their products and providing good service. Good way to build a business.
My one TFL mono I bought used came with a second hatch, person got it because the original hatch had a bit of a warp.
Just checked their webpage and it's all messed up, comes up with some easyrotator preview thing where it wants a Hex background colour?
Anybody have a different link?

I see you use pcv pipe for cooling too. How about using plexiglass-1/8" and get a small airplane canopy and glue to top to cover the motor. Now to seal flex by using window frame foam with sticky side down- 1/4" foam to boat with set screws to keep cover down and leak proof, just a suggestion. I have never had a leak with pcv pipe yet in many a year. Just cut a hole big enough to cover cooling and water line.

Plexi and a canopy sounds like a good cheap option, but skip the screws and tape it down, it's guaranteed to leak unless you have a screw every inch or so, the plexi flexes to much to seal between the screw holes, if you tighten it down enough to seal it will crack the plexi around the screw holes.
The only screw down cover that ever worked for me during the nitro boating days was a lexan box cover with aluminum strips epoxied around the perimeter, the aluminum provided enough rigidity to allow it to seal between the screws. Drilling though the aluminum and lexan kept the plastic from cracking when it's tightened down.
Didn't have much luck with the foam tape either, best was greasing the edges of the lid with vaseline and putting a bead of silicon around the box edges then tightening down the lid about 75% until cured. Custom gasket with no seams or end joints to leak.
LOL hockey shin pad tape is much easier!

Now it was a suggestion and the op could use 1/4" flexi and tape it down and forget it. The screw idea is one I saw on U-TUBE video and said it didn't leak. Personally I just use good ole black electrical tape that is kept warm in pants pocket. Andy Kunz told me this one time.
