Well first if you use an external bec then you will have to pull the red wire out of your esc (to rx) plug to dissable the internal bec in the T180.
The easiest place to connect a bec is on the + and - wires where your esc power plugs connect to your batteries.

or you can connect it to the balancer wires of the lipo , like i did
solderd an 1000uf elco on the external BEC
      works perfect

can i solder to the + and - wires of the esc? or maybe the + and - wires of the external cap board?

Either place would be fine....just wire it so when you disconnect your battery from your esc that it also disconnects the bec so you don't forget to unplug all power

The only problems with using the"balance" leads is .........most are only rated for 5 amp.
If you are plugged into the - of the first cell and the + on the last cell ...the cells drain equally
If you have a 4s pack and you are using the bec on only 2 cells out of the 4s then you will have a greater drain on 2 of the 4 cells.

it's true you have to connect to the outer wires of the balancer leads so you use all the cells , forgot to mention that)

5 amps (think it will be less),say a 4s pack: that gives 74watt's to use
na way that little servo motor with a huge gear ratio is going to pull 74 watt ( say 6 volts ;that would make it to pull 12 amps !)

those motors pull around a couple 100mah

Remember that if you use any of the balance wires (usually 22 or 24 gauge) the - and + are rated at 5 amps each
(batt voltage and mah doesn't change this)......... the total acceptable load on either wire is still only 5 amps ......not 10 amps combined.
the CC bec that I have is rated at 10 amps

                  i know that truckerdan

but voltage changes the max watt's you can pull through those wires ; when you use 1cel : 3.7v X 5Amp gives 18.5watt

when connected to a 5s lipo you can pull 3.7v x 5 amp :92.5 watts through the same wire ( in theory)

that's the reason why they up the voltage of the net in some country's : more power through the unchanged net

but i doubt if you can pull 5amps through the litte wires of my external bec ,but as i said a servo motor pulls something around a couple 100mah
