I may be a lot late giving my input here. I am relatively new to rc boats. Things have changed a lot over the years. I decided i was going to build a larger size rc boat. Fine design rc's website came up when doing a search. OSE did not have stock on the motor i was recommended to purchase. I ended up ordering from fine design. Originally i was buying a leopard motor, fine design convinced me i should trust him and go with the black nemesis. I bought and paid for it. Friday afternoon i get an email saying he's not selling the nemesis and to trust him and that he was doing me a favor by absorbing the price difference and that i was now getting a TP 820kv motor that was going to make my boat do 80mph and this and that. I wasn't asked if this was ok, i just recieved it in the mail. There are conflicting markings on the motor. I paid them $250 and i am not even sure what i have. My last conversations with him ensured i won't ever doing business with them ever again! Buyer beware!

        Hi Jeff,

I totally understand your situation. Could you measure the length and diameter of the TP motor and post its photo, or send it to [email protected]? We can help you to figure out what model it is. If the motor is in brand new condition and its parameters are not what you want, I can hep to arrange a replacement. I hope you can have good experience with TP motors.

Hello there, thanks for asking Ray. I can figure out how to post a picture yet. The really great thing is that smileday, who works with TP motors in the US has jumped in for support! I thought I was just going to be stuck with this one. I have sent all the info to them, including pictures as I know how to do that in an email. The motor is the TP 5660motor series (5692I size) 6 pole 6y6y motor. The conflict was that the 820right kv was written in marker and the 8engraving was written strangely. Hand engraved on the back was 660-6y. I would sooner pull out all my own teeth with a set of pliers than have anything to do with finedesign. I am really hoping for my up and coming build, a 51"cobra cobra mono that I will be running the above motor that I will get support from the great people on OSE. Finedesign threatened me with the fact that I could count on not reciecing any help on line with my build as I was "it" as he told me. I am not sure what that means. He may have been upset when I told him him exactly what I thought about my transaction with him. I had had enough! Anyways, hello everybody, what a way to intrduce myself here at OSE. I will start fresh with my next post, put all this fine design crap behind me and move on. Enjoy your day! Jeff

Hello again, I just wanted to make a quick update. TP power USA has has come to my rescue! The customer service has been excellent! They have taken my issues up and there head on approach to dealing with the issues is very refreshing. I haven't enjoyed this level of customer service and commitment to customers in many many years. I will update this post once a solution has been reached. Finedesign had shipped me a leopard cooling jacket with my TP motor and this wasn't sitting well with me. They have already agreed to send the proper TP power cooling jacket free of charge! This wasnt asked for but offered! Very impressive. Jeff

Hello again, final update on my TP motor. To bee 100% positive I got what I wanted TP is replacing the motor and supplying a TP water cooling jacket free of charge. I can't believe how quickly they stepped up to the plate and sorted this out. From a simple post warning others about not going the route I did buying a motor to making contact and offering customer service that I didn't think existed anymore! I have to give a big thank you to the team at TP power USA. They certainly have made me one happy customer! Jeff

I think the story is well documented. Dont buy from the place/seller you did.

I also hope TP learned a valuable lesson. If one of your dealers or OEM sellers acts like this it can bring bad press real quick and hurt your business. I think the people at TP are genuine and will work with us hobbyists to get a good product at a fair price and have no doubt they will be around for a long time.

Many times dealing with Chinese companies they wont stand behind their products or the customer service is a joke. We have all had it happen to us or know someone its happened to. Refreshing to see a company that cares. Keep up the good work TP Power!

I agree with you. Good customer service is rare. Excellent customer derive is almost unheard of. The other fact that I didn't mention is that I paid $250, plus shipping for this motor. TP's price is around the $150 mark. So not only was it a nasty and unplesent transaction, he gouged me severely on the pricing. When I was informed I would be getting this motor unwashed told not to worry, he would absorb the extra cost on his end! I suppose I have taken this farther than I should of. The moral of the story is quite clear and its time for me to let it go! Gettingsicall back into RC boats I have made many mistakes when making purchases. I have had to accept the loss and store the parts away for a future project. Now that I know these forums are outiabout there and people post detailed build information I can educate myself and make smart buys. The days of eBay purchases are over! I have far to larg a stock of boat parts for how long I have been back into it. But I just love it. Jeff

I forgot to mention, OSE TP motor prices are in line with what TP power is charging. Something to keep in mind.

Hi, I just destroyed a motor on Sunday. I had a look on the OSE shop this morning at motors and am considering a tp. I'm in New Zealand and was wondering if there is anyone closer to here selling them, maybe in Aussie? Other wise I was thinking going direct to TP. Any good advice? I'm looking at a 4050 6D.

If you place the order with TP Power USA, we can mail the motor directly from China. Just send a request to [email protected]
We will price-match the shipping to that from Australia to New Zealand.
